About

Fluke Corporation was founded in 1948 as an electrical test equipment manufacturer. The company is currently based in Everett, Washington and employs about 2,500 people. Over the years the company has successfully expanded its product line into multiple market segments, but test and measurement remains a major part of Fluke’s manufacturing. In fact, Fluke has remained a leader in the area of portable hand-held test instruments for the last 40 years.

Fluke is also responsible for three separate company segments that specialize in precision measurement and calibration (Fluke Calibration), data communications (Fluke Networks), and medical equipment (Fluke Biomedical). The company is credited with the development of revolutionary thermal imaging technology that made thermal imagers easier to use and drove market price downward by over $15,000. Fluke also developed the first wireless multimeter with a detachable display in 2009; this allows for much easier testing when the object under test is a distance away from the controls.

Fluke’s test and measurement product line currently includes digital multimeters, clamp meters, electrical testers, power quality analyzers, thermal imagers, insulation resistance testers, portable oscilloscopes, earth ground testers, infrared and contact thermometers, air quality meters, and vibration testers. Any of these products that require NIST-traceable calibration are calibrated in-house at Fluke’s calibration lab. Additionally, Fluke maintains an environmental safety lab in which all products are baked, frozen, shaken, shocked, and abused to test how they stand up to years of hard use. If a test shows a flaw or weakness, the product is re-engineered.

Fluke was purchased by the Danaher Corporation in 1998. This acquisition helped transformed Fluke into what is today a billion-dollar company. In 2016, Danaher spun off Fortive Corporation, a diversified industrial conglomerate company – at the point of its independent incorporation, Fortive immediately became a component of the S&P 500. Today, Fluke Corporation is a subsidiary of Fortive. With 2015 revenues of $6.2 billion, Fortive's well-known brands hold leading positions in field instrumentation, transportation, sensing, product realization, automation and specialty, and franchise distribution. Fortive is currently headquartered in Everett, Washington and employs a team of more than 24,000 research and development, manufacturing, sales, distribution, service and administrative employees in more than 40 countries around the world.
