I purchased this mainly to use with the 2023-05 mini parallel remover. This is for removing SMD resistors, etc. This is made actually removing 0201 without damage much easier than I expected. The part almost disappears when you look for it not under the microscope.
It can only run one dual hand piece, but you can run two single hand pieces at the same time. I run dual FM2026 normal irons with different tips, or one FM2032-52 micro iron when I'm needing to work with very detail soldering.
I hate the at temperature beep, and this is configurable. I currently have mine setup to sleep in 2 minutes. So if the iron is in the holder longer than 2 minutes, it drop temp. This solves the wait for multiple quick joints. It also drops to off after a configurable time. I really like this. The station is on, but the display is ----. It beeps three times to let you know that it is on, but powered down, every 30 minutes.
We will be using one of these for production, and that gives me piece of mind in tip life if someone leaves an iron on over the weekend. Other than beeping and a slight power draw for the electronics, it is as if it is off.
I left on the beep at low temperature and tip faults, as these are not common occurrences and don't get annoying. I've found that you develop a rhythm for the iron and can feel when it would hit temp without the beep.
All in all, I'm really pleased with this station. Once we need two irons in production, I will replace that 951 with another 203.
