I purchased my first Fluke DVM in the early 1980s. It was a model 77, and at the time it cost me around $120.00 in 1980's dollars. The big feature was a true RMS reading of AC volts, which before that you had to do with an iron vane voltmeter. That feature was very important to me in my work as professional broadcasting engineer.
35 years later, the old 77 still works, but the display is getting a little dim, so I started looking for something new. I use Fluke exclusively at home, and at work, and I would rely on nothing else. Their equipment is reliable, stable, and built like a tank. I settled on the 175 which for, the price, was the best value I could find. I particularly liked all of the ranges the 175 offered. I also liked the ammeter, with separate jacks for higher current, and the frequency meter. The capacitance measuring tool is an added plus. When I took the meter out of the box, I was not disappointed. It's as good as advertised and the price I got from the T Equipment Depot was the best I could find anywhere on the Internet. Fast delivery, no tax, and free shipping. A great deal on an excellent voltmeter.
