This is a tool that looks great and performs even better.
At first I was disappointed that to use the sleep function meant swapping not one but two plugs when changing from the sucker to the iron.
This was fixed by picking up a cheap audio splicer. Running the two sleep cables in series with one another allowed sleep mode to work on either device without changing the sleep mode cable.
Aside from this small con, the unit works magnificently.

The Hakko FM204-CP has not disappointed. The only thing I'd like have seen Hakko improve is since this unit supports the FM2027-03 solder iron and the desolder nozzle both they could have improved the sleep feature. You can only plug one cradle into the unit at a time so if you plan to do a lot of soldering and desoldering you have to change the cradle plug each time - I've finally just stopped using it altogether. As for tequipment.net - I will definitely visit them again next time I need more equipment or more supplies. Great communication, reasonable shipping times and rates, fantastic packing to protect my purchase, and fantastic rates.

The FM204CP, w/ conversion kit, is a good compromise if you need a desoldering station but can’t budget the FM206. I have never had a problem with any Hakko product (FX951 or FM206) I have used.
*Missing from the “What’s In The Box” list is the supplied B2756 tip tray and two 599B tip cleaners.
