I have owned several Fluke Ethernet network infrastructure testing instruments in the past, all worked flawlessly & they were quite rugged. My grandson is involved in an apprentice program supported by a local electrician's union chapter. I wanted to make sure that he had the best tools. I bought this because my cheapo Tenma brand clamp ammeter gave unstable readings and it didn't measure true RMS. I also like the quality of Fluke meters. I only gave it 4 stars because the response time is too slow to get a current reading on pulsing loads. Tower lights flash 30 times per minute, 1 sec on, 1 sec off. This meter only gives fluctuating numbers when measuring this pulsing current. It doesn't have a min/max function, only a hold. My old analog clamp meter does a better job measuring the flashing tower light current. Otherwise, it works fine and the temp measuring probe might be handy someday.

This replaced an older Amprobe meter that gave me good service. It is smaller which I like and the backlit display is easy to read in dim areas. The added capacitance feature is helpful when troubleshooting HVAC systems. I keep my Fluke 87 at my workbench which has been very reliable and trouble free for years. I also have their toner. I purchased this meter to supplement my Fluke 75. I still use the 75 for repairing electronic equipment, but use the 324 for everything else - testing power circuits, checking amperage draw of tools, continuity checks, ... . It is very easy to use and has very good accuracy. I particularly like the hold button for keeping reading when you can't easily see the meter display panel.
Length of the probe wire is good. I admit to throwing a pair of alligator clips that fasten to the probe tips into the case. They eliminate the need to brace the meter somewhere while holding the probes on the circuit.
The thermocouple is an interesting bonus. I have checked it against a Thermopen IR temperature meter the few times I have used it, and both reading agree.
All in all, a very useful tool for both an electrican and a high-end home handyman.

I haven't yet received the Fluke 324 meter but I purchased some other items to read temperature with a Fluke 87 multimeter. It turned out that the Fluke 87 would not work with the items sent although those I talked to before ordering said it would. It turns out that the Fluke 87 will not work but the Fluke 87-5 will. The staff was very helpful in solving this problem and instructed me in getting the meter that would work as well as helping me get a refund. However, after applying for the refund, I was instructed to just keep the one item (an adapter) that would not work so I didn't have to bother sending it back. I have used this brand in the past and been very happy with the performance. This is my first clamp meter. It is nicely designed and will work well for troubleshooting on my boat. My last meter was ruined when the battery leaked acid on the circuit board. I wish that they would design a plastic holder for the battery that would contain a leak if it happens. My experience was good with Tequipent was good with a fair price and quick shipping. I was surprised that when they shipped the meter that they used no padding in the box to protect the package inside. I think that when you ship sensitive instruments that bubble wrap or newspaper should be used. Happy metering.
