Summit Technology / PowerSight 15k Voltage Probe Set with Hot Sticks

Summit Technology’s model 15KVP voltage probes are capable of connecting directly to 15 kilovolts. Traditionally, professionals who wished to measure 12,500 volt lines needed to locate a PT (potential transformer) and then connect to the low voltage output secondary of the PT. The 15KVP allows direct connection to the primary voltage. Bypassing the PT avoids any phase shift and linearity problems introduced by it. It also allows direct connection at any point of interest whether PTs already exist or not. The probes are used exclusively with the PowerSight® line of Energy Analyzers, manufactured by Summit Technology Inc.

Normally, professionals who wish to measure 12,470 volt lines need to locate an installed PT (potential transformer) and then connect to the low voltage output secondary of the PT. The PT ratio is entered into the PowerSight so that primary values are displayed. However, sometimes a convenient PT is not available or the measurement must bypass the PT to verify whether the metering circuit is correct.

The 15KVPSet allows direct connection between the primary voltage and to your PowerSight analyzer.  The set comes disassembled in its own compact canvas carrying case.

The connection to the medium voltage is via a shepherd’s hook that has a 1.4 inch inside diameter.

The 15KV probes may be purchased singly (order 15KVP).  The hot sticks may be purchased separately (order STKS for 3 sections that screw together into one hot stick).  The photo above shows three 15KVPs and three STKS.
