Great little tool

It's a great addition to my handyman business. I've used a larger camera in the past but didn't like the size of it and it got heavy after a while. If you get an extender for your phone you can leave the protective case on like I have on my phone and still use the camera. Now I don't have to take my Otter box case off every time I use the camera.

Nice resolution, bad app, unfortunate intermittent freezing

The spatial and temporal resolution of this camera is nice, but every couple seconds it clicks loudly and the video feed freezes for a few frames. I assume this is an automatic calibration process that is needed to keep the temperature readings accurate. For my use case (non-contact physiological monitoring of animals) it would be preferable to have continuous video with no freezing and no clicking. I'd be happy to sacrifice absolute temperature measurements, as long as the camera could still capture the relative temperature differences between pixels in each frame. The app does not appear to have such an option for running the camera in a continuous video mode without the clicking and freezing. The app also insists on getting microphone and location permissions. If you want to have audio and location info in the video file, then sure, those are needed. Judging from the many negative reviews in the app store, lots of us users do not need location info inserted into the video feed and do not appreciate how pushy the app is about this. If the app didn't demand unnecessary permissions and could run the camera in a continuous mode, it would be an easy 5/5 rating from me.
