Rigol DP832A
5.0
Solid DC power supply with loads of functions. Appears to be well built and has more than enough features for what I will be using it for. Well thought out and intuitive buttons which make it easy to navigate the screens and menus. This is the second Rigol DC power supply that I have and the first is still working well after many years.

Was going to go for the less expensive DP832 but price was right for the upgrade and I was going to have to purchase at least one add-on anyhow. Unit works exactly to spec - all values spot on

A very nice Power Supply, my second DP832A
5.0
This is my second DP832A. I got one for my former work location at a super-power radio station lab. The flexibility and control are essential, and being able to precisely see and set the current limiting was very helpful. I have now moved to a new work location and missed the DP832A so much that I bought another one for this lab.

DP832A -Portable Bench-top Linear Power Supply
5.0
I have used this unit since last year. It is a user friendly linear Power supply and is useful when one needs quite power source for EMI testing. Very easy to stack up first two channel connection to get up to 60 V source or parallel them to get twice the current capability.

Nice Bench Supply

Came well packaged and shipped quickly. Performs as expected. The triple output is a must have for troubleshooting boards that require 2 or even three voltage inputs. No complaints so far and I will post an updated technical review after some through testing and usage.

Great Lab Supply
5.0
I'm just getting started with this supply and have not used many of the available features. Manually setting operating mode, per-channel voltage/current settings and limits, and enabling channels is easy and intuitive. The display layout and channel color identification makes it easy to see what is going on. The unit arrived having been calibrated about 2 months ago which is great. I have only measured DC voltage and current with a U1273A, based on this the unit meets specifications. It was well packaged for ground shipping, in no less than 3 cardboard boxes plus cushioning material, and arrived in perfect condition. The overall impression is that this is a well designed and well made piece of equipment from Rigol that is going to be a pleasure to use, and Tequipment.net held up their end and have been great to deal with.

Well within Specified noise and setting tolerance
5.0
Bought this as an additional power supply for integrated circuit research testing. Got the A version with 3 outputs and 4 digit (100uV) resolution and settings. Unit worked within specifications in both internal and external (FLuke bench 5.5digit Voltmeter). Further, measured noise output was about 300uV p-p with no troublesome peaks out to 100MHz.
Have not used the network interface, but so far very pleased with unit, it is compact and stable operation at the 0.5-1.5V supply needed for testing prototype IC's.

Solid Instrument
5.0
I have found this supply to be very versatile and easy to use. It has a low noise level, which is good for the sensitive applications I have used it for. Takes up a decent amount of space and the fan is a bit loud, but this doesn't bother me too much since my main concern is the functionality of the device.

The first unit shipped suffered shipping damage and did not work. I contacted TEquipment and Rigol. I immediately received an RMA and was shipped a different new unit. It has worked flawlessly.
Shipping damage happens to any product. The important part here was a quick resolution of the problem and a new working unit shipped to me. Thumbs up!

Rigol DP832A Programmable DC Power Supply

This power supply is a great piece of equipment and very versatile. The connectivity options are outstanding and you have control over every aspect of the power delivery, which is very useful when troubleshooting. The only drawback that I see is the size of the unit, it is rather large.

4.0
Great basic power supply. The isolated channels are very helpful when working with circuits that use isolated power supplies; all channels are isolated from earth as-is; one channel is totally isolated and the other two share the negative leg. Remember to connect negative to earth ground if you're using an earth-referenced sig gen or scope. Fast set up and intuitive to use.
My only gripe: the screen is fairly small and sometimes it is difficult to read what your OVP/OCV is set to. Also note this PSU is not all that quiet. Its a beast at 140W and needs a big fan to keep cool.

Liked it but Had to return it!
1.0
Ok, I gave this 5 star before (ready my previous review which still has valid points - only if it lasts!) I'm giving it 1 star here to catch your attention to this update.
- After first month: Unit reading started to be off by 5mV and difficult to set it to zero!
- Contacted both Rigol & TE but took long time to hear back and report the issue.
- RMA rules are really strict and process is time consuming. Took a month to get replacement and they refused to ship another unit right away until they receive the faulty one.
- Here is what made it worse! After receiving the replacement It turns out that it has a tolerance issue with its banana plugs that I couldn't insert any of the banana plugs I have no matter how hard I push - hence couldn't even use the unit!
I was very frustrated by this time and decided to return the unit!
Both Rigol & TE were very responsive at this point and the return process was smooth - TE even payed for the shipment as well (which I appreciated as I payed once to get replacement)
The fact that Banana plugs has an issue tells you something about how much testing goes into Rigol products. It seems to me that this is a basic thing to make sure a product is usable out of the box.
Also the fact that it lost its accuracy after that short period is not assuring at best! Specially I was planning in getting more Rigol products as Its still true that you get a lot for the money (if it was reliable!)
I'm now thinking of paying extra money to get an Agilent or even Keithley unit at this point.
Rigol Response: Thanks for trying Rigol and for your feedback. Based on the specifications, a 5 mV offset is often within the error budget for that instrument. I am sorry that it didn't meet your needs. I will check into why we weren't able to communicate that to you in a clear and timely fashion. We usually are able to answer those types of questions in the moment or at least that day. It's great that when it didn't meet your needs you were able to utilize our 30 day no questions asked return policy to get a new one. Unfortunately, we had a few supplies leave the factory with tight banana connectors on them and your 2nd unit must have been one of those. We do have safety banana adaptors available for free for any customer that has a fit issue. These adaptors allow you to connect safety banana jacks in addition to the standard banana jacks. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Rigol DP832A - A Great Power supply!
5.0
This is one of the best supplies we've used. It is feature rich, very stable and low noise. It's good enough to use as a cheap adjustable voltage reference to boot. The only negative we've experienced is the screen has some rather small text which can be difficult to read from more than a few feet. Next time we need another supply Rigol has our business.

Excellent Unit!
5.0
This is my first lab style power supply and I'm very impressed! Its pretty difficult to beat its price given the load of features it has. User interface is very easy and intuitive to use, took me just few minutes to figure. Also classical display mode is a great touch, like to have three columns rather than the out of the box UI. connected to both USB and to my router and has no issue communicating and sending commands from PC.
Only two things I didn't like:
- It doesn't have a way to tilt it so it can face my eyes, but was able to workaround this by putting something underneath the front part to lift it up.
- Programming manual is not well written and difficult to understand!

Couldn't believe how great this lab PS is!
5.0
After some searching there was a very old (original 2012) batch of these units that had issues with the power supply. After talking to the great folks at Tequipment, all of their stock is the newer 2013/2014 stock without issues. Also, some may look at the lower priced scopes, and there's not a lot of documentation around why this PS is higher. In a nutshell it has all of the (optional / need to pay for) keys that allow it to provide and limit your output power down to .005v whereas the slightly cheaper model only can be set to .05v.
Safe yourself the time & hassle and just go for this one :)
I couldn't be happier with it and the experience purchasing from Tequipment!! Everything arrived on time and in great shape. Thank you!

Great programmable power supply at a great price!
5.0
I purchased the Rigol DP832A unsure what to expect, but I've been impressed with it every step of the way. It's easy to use, has a great feature set (I love that it has 1mA/1mV resolution, Ethernet control, etc.) and works well. It's large, but that's to be expected from a high quality programmable power supply. Overall I'm very satisfied with this product, I liked it so much I bought a second one!

5.0
I love this supply, it's by far the best I've ever used. Granted many of the supplies I've used before have been pretty terrible but I really have no complaints about this one. Some more resolution would be nice but that's available with a software option, I just didn't get it, so that might be going it the budget for next year. The button layout took a little getting used to but not bad at all, just different from what I was used to. Overall I'd say it's a great supply.

Great power supply, and totally worth the extra money to get it in color. It doesn't really behave that much different than the cheaper one that isn't in color, but it is much more pleasent to look at and improves your work environment drastically.

DP832A First Impressions
4.0
Just got this and been using it for a week now. Love how fast it boots up in about 5 seconds. There is a fan that comes on, however it is variable speed and does not have a high pitch noise. It is great seeing down to mA in current and really enjoy the power display. The wheel for entering the numeric values in, is pretty functional for me. The display is nice, bright, and easy to read. There was no power leads which was disappointing. All in all very impressive.
