The Nova-Strobe series represents the latest in portable stroboscope technology. Both the dax and dbx offer powerful features for both diagnostic inspection and speed measurements. Lightweight and bright with flash rates to 20,000 flashes per minute, these strobes are comfortable to hold and easy to operate. The dbx battery operated stroboscope weighs only 1.9 lbs. (0.86 kg) and will run continuously for 2 hours on a single charge. A fast charger is included and the percentage charge remaining may be displayed. The unit is CE certified. The dax AC powered stroboscope (115 or 230 Vac) is designed for continuous cool operation, and weighs only 1.5 lbs. (0.68 kg).

Great at what it does!
5.0
This strobe tachometer is a tried-and-true model. It seems this same basic product version exists in numerous iterations, sold under dozens of different brand names. They all look the same externally -- as far as build and construction -- and seem to have remained pretty much unchanged for 20 years. (If it's not broke, don't fix it.) I repurchased this unit after a much older unit quit holding a charge very long. The Monarch brand is well-respected in the world of tachometers. The kit version of the product includes a hard case with an extra bulb. Advantages of these strobe tachometers include the ability to determine RPM of rotating equipment from a greater distance, or even external to the equipment where a window or line-of-sight is available. It can also usually bypass the need to shut down equipment to place reflective tape for a subsequent reading as is necessary with laser tachometers. Just be aware of the possibility of false readings due to harmonic multiples of the true RPM when an approximate rpm is not known. The manual has good information on that. Practical and easy to use - recommended.
