The FLIR E40 is part of the powerful FLIR Exx series of thermal cameras designed for professional building inspection and diagnostics. The E40 features a 160 x 120 pixel resolution, perfect for most building inspection duties. Thermal sensitivity is 0.07°C, making even small temperature differences clearly visible. The fixed picture-in-picture mode allows you to view a thermal image inside a visible light image, making target recognition easier. The FLIR E40 features 2x continuous digital zoom, plenty for indoor building inspection applications. The FLIR E40 also comes standard with a 25 degree lens, with 15 degree telephoto and 45 degree wide angle options available for additional purchase to expand the camera's capabilities.

FLIR MSX Image Blending

The FLIR E40 incorporates FLIR's unique and powerful MSX imaging blending technology. MSX stands for Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging. This technology extracts details and highlights from images taken by the E40's built-in digital camera and combines them with identical infrared images in real time to create a blended thermal image. In blended thermal images, features such as numbers, labels and textures are clearly visible. This makes identifying thermal images and areas under test much easier.

Ergonomic Touchscreen

The FLIR E40 touchscreen incorporates the latest FLIR Dark Precision touchscreen technology. This intuitive interface takes advantage of the camera's full 3.5” LCD display and allows you to instantly tap into multiple temperature measurement tools, image modes, archived JPEGs, and more. FLIR's new Auto Orientation feature lets you switch between landscape and portrait views at any time while keeping temperature measurement and other overlays upright.

FLIR Tools Mobile Wi-Fi App

With the free FLIR Tools Mobile app, the E40 can connect to smartphones and tablets via a wireless connection. With the FLIR Tools Mobile app you have the power to stream live thermal video direct from the camera, import radiometric JPEGs, adjust span and level, change palettes, and add up to 3 measurement spots remotely. When done capturing images, the FLIR Tools Mobile app makes it extremely easy to send out images in professional, simple reports via email.

FLIR MeterLink

FLIR Meterlink technology allows for Bluetooth communication between the E40 thermal camera and a range of MeterLink compatible FLIR and Extech meters, including moisture and clamp meters. With MeterLink, the information collected by these meters is transmitted to the E40 and displayed on the screen next to other data. This data is embedded in thermal images when saving and can be extremely useful in analyzing the environmental or electrical conditions associated with a specific thermal event.

Powerful Digital Camera

The FLIR E40 incorporates a 3.1 megapixel digital camera so you can easily capture visible light photos, often essential for reference when examining thermal images. Visible light images can be taken simultaneously with thermal images and then precisely aligned, effectively giving you a thermal and visible light image of the exact same scene. Integrated with the E40's digital camera is an LED light for illuminating dark areas where images must be taken. This LED light also provides extra visible detail in MSX enhanced thermal images.

High-Temperature Range – The FLIR E40 temperature range extends from -4 to 1202°F (-20 to 650°C), giving you the power to measure hotter-running equipment more accurately. This is essential for maintaining safe conditions in industrial applications.

Annotations – The FLIR E40 allows you to easily add voice or text comments to images. This makes inspections more streamlined and saves you time during the image analysis process.

Integrated Laser Pointer – The FLIR E40 features a laser pointer to help users aim the camera more accurately. With the laser, users can pinpoint a reference spot within an image and align a marker to it on screen.

Measuring Modes – The FLIR E40 supports up to 3 spot meters, 3 moveable area boxes with min/max/avg, and Delta T measuring. A fixed picture-in-picture mode with the option to use FLIR MSX is also available.
