Video Down Converters (also called Scan Converters) convert higher resolution computer images into lower resolution video images (standard NTSC and PAL video signals and some optional additionally).
Factors to consider when selecting a video down converter
- Desired video format(s) input and output. Example types:

Multi-Window Processors
Multiviewers or Multi-Window Processors allow multiple video images to be displayed on a single display in different windows. It is analogous to TV PIP (Picture-in-Picture) except with much more control.

Routing Switchers
Routing Switchers allow multiple signal sources to be routed to destinations without moving input and output cables. Routing Switchers can be for a variety of different video and audio formats.
Routing Switchers can operate as standalone switchers with local and remote control. However, their real power is evidenced when connected to a TVOne C2 Series Scaler/Switcher. In their role as Expansion Modules for the C2 Series, the connection between the units via the Options Connector allows seamlessly integration of the S2 unit into the C2. From an operational and control standpoint, the additional inputs become part of the C2 connected Scaler/Switcher.

Splitters / Taps/ WDMs / Amplifiers
Find Splitters, Taps, WDMs, and Amplifiers for CATV, L-BAND, and Fiber Optic video applications.
Taps like splitters are used to split video signals, but they are used at the trunk, where the splitter is used at the dead-end. For example, a tap is used at the service entrance for a restaurant with multiple rooms. Splitters might be used in each room with several TVs.
WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) equipment is used to combine several optical signals into a single fiber optic cable using different wavelengths. Amplifiers are used to increase the distance of cable runs by boosting the quality of the video signal.
Video Scalers Switchers
These multi-format products provide video signal conversion and glitch-free switching between a variety of computer and video input signal formats. Some models go well beyond scaling and switching and include Picture-in-Picture, Keying and Mixing. A key step in the process of up-converting NTSC or PAL video signals is de-interlacing the incoming video and converting it into a progressive scan signal. These products include motion compensation, 3:2 pull-down and aspect ratio conversion.

- Key Mode. Allows computer graphics to be keyed over an external Composite, YC or SDI signal. The keyed image may be faded in and out
