👋 Important Note

As COVID-19 continues to be a problem, we want to remove any confusion over product usage and ensure you find the correct solution.

Although TEquipment sells a wide variety of thermal imagers and infrared thermometers, not all of them are suitable for detecting an elevated temperature in humans. This guide will provide an overview of several products which can be used for this application, covering various price points and levels of functionality.

Please note, these products are only designed to measure temperature. They cannot be used to detect or diagnose COVID-19/Coronavirus.

What about other IR Thermometers on TEquipment?

The Extech IR200 & Alicn TE-AL-IR2 are the only IR thermometers suitable for temperature measurement on humans. However, we also have thermal solutions as shown below. While TEquipment carries a large number of other IR thermometers, they are designed for applications such as food inspection, or heating and air conditioning. These will measure temperature, but will not provide accurate results if used on people.

Thermal Screening Systems

Fotric 226B

The Fotric 226B provides an automated and easy solution, and is ideal for higher volume applications such as offices, factories and public events.

AI Face Recognition Icon

A.I. Face Recognition

Built-in Facial detection module which automatically recognizes people as they enter its field of view. It then measures their temperature and provides a pass/fail signal.

Large detection range icon

Large Detection Range

With a range of 2.6 to 10.5 feet, personnel are able to obtain accurate readings while adhering to social distancing requirements. This makes it ideal for quick moving lines or entryways.

Prevent false positive icon

Prevents False Positives

If the subject is holding a cup of hot coffee, the system will lock onto facial features and ignore the unrelated heat source. It will also adapt to changes in ambient temperature.

Seek Scan

The Seek Scan is an automated system used to measure one person at a time. It is easy to set up and performs its measurements in only one second. This helps to keep lines moving quickly.

Face Detection

Once a subject is in frame the camera finds the most reliable spot on the face for temperature measurement and provides a pass or fail signal.

5 ft detection range

5' Detection Range

This provides an efficient screening process, while helping to keep staff as safe as possible. The distance between the camera and testing subject is approximately 5 feet.

Kiosks

TEquipment carries several kiosk style systems which can provide both automated and self-service solutions. These span a wide range of functionalities, from temperature measurement, to payroll and even door control. Kiosks can provide a simple pass/fail temperature status, but can also be used to prevent people from entering your building.

For testing subjects, the screening process is easy. Simply walk up to it and look at the device. It will detect the presence of a person and begin its test.

The following is an overview of a few popular brands.

Richtech AATSS

Based in Las Vegas, NV, Richtech currently offers several versions of its AATSS kiosk. This system is easy to use and automates the testing process. This device has several mounting options and degrees of functionality, making it suitable for a variety of users.

The AATSS can be placed on a floor stand, table stand, wall mount or adjustable arm, with units ranging from basic standalone systems to fully networked devices. With the AATSS, it is possible to receive email alerts, trigger doors to open and much more.

How does it work?

The AATSS is designed to be accurate, easy and fast. Simply set it up near your entrance and it does all the work. Testing subjects walk up to it, place their face within 7 to 12 inches of the sensor, and it takes their temperature. Based on the results, it will provide a pass or fail signal. The AATSS will also work with people wearing glasses.

Hikvision

The Hikvision kiosk provides an accuracy of ±0.9°F and can measure subjects from 1.6 to 4.92 feet away. It features facial recognition, can be used for attendance purposes and also has access control functionality. This kiosk can be mounted on either a wall or optional floor stand.
