A/C Superheat/Subcool System Analyzers

A/C Superheat/Subcool System Analyzers are devices specifically designed to determine superheating or subcooling of an HVAC system. Superheating refers to the number of degrees a vapor is above its boiling point at a particular pressure. This gives an indication if the amount of refrigerant flowing into the evaporator is appropriate for the load. If this is too high or low you risk compressor damage, poor refrigeration, and excess energy costs.

Subcooling is the condition where the liquid refrigerant is colder than the minimum temperature required to keep it from boiling. This is desirable because you effectively pump less refrigerant through the system to maintain your required refrigerated temperature. Subcooling also prevents the liquid refrigerant from changing to a gas before it gets to the evaporator.

Key Features of A/C Superheat/Subcool System Analyzers
  • Automatically calculates Superheat/Subcool from measurements taken
  • Built-in P/T charts
  • Supports multiple refrigerants
  • Measures pressure and temperature
  • Calculate Superheat/Subcool in both Fahrenheit and Celsius
  • Display pressure in PSI or kPa

As you can see in the video a Testo digital manifold is used. Fieldpiece also offers a digital manifold with superheat and subcool capability. See them both here: HVAC Manifolds

Heater Blankets

Heater Blankets are wrapped around refrigerant tanks to to warm them up and speed up the charging process. By raising tank temperature, a positive pressure difference is created between the tank and the A/C system which pulls refrigerant into the system.

Key Features of Heater Blankets
  • Fits various sizes of refrigerant tanks
  • Thermostat included
  • Safety thermal cut-off switch to protect against overheating

Charging Scales

Charging Scales are used to track the weight of refrigerant charged into a refrigeration system.

This video gives an overview of the Fieldpiece SRS2 Wireless Refrigerant Scale. This instrument was the first wireless refrigerant scale in the industry. The included remote control is securely stored inside the back of the scale platform and features a magnetic hat so you can attach it to any metal surface and keep your hands free.

Refrigerant Identifiers and Analyzers

Refrigerant Identifiers are used to determine refrigerant type in recycling so that the refrigerant is collected in the correct storage cylinder. Recyclers will pay more if different refrigerants are kept separate. Reliable and affordable refrigerant identifying tools are available that make this possible.

Key Features of Refrigerant Identifiers
  • Displays the specific percentages of refrigerants and air in the system or tank
  • Visual and audible hydrocarbon alarm
  • Compact and lightweight design
  • Visible, error-proof oil filter with simple, low cost replacement

Thermostats

Thermostats are used to set desired room temperatures and control air conditioning and furnace operation.
