Overview

Fotric might not be a household name like FLIR when it comes to thermal cameras, but the company makes great sensors and powerful cameras that can compete with FLIR. The Fotric 348A-L25 is a professional industrial thermal camera designed for maintenance, utilities, equipment surveys, and industrial inspections.

The Fotric 348A-L25 comes out strong with 640x480 infrared resolution, while the FLIR E95 has a 464x348 infared resolution. Fotric 348A-L25 also has 40mK sensitivity while FLIR has 30mK sensitivity.

The main advantage of the Fotric 348A-L25 is the laser-assisted AI auto focus. By using an AI algorithm, the 348A-L25 can auto focus several seconds faster than the E95. The E95 also has laser-assisted auto focus, but it is noticeably slower.

The biggest advantage for FLIR E95 in terms of image quality is FLIR MSX, a proprietary image blending technology. Fotric 348A-L25 does have image blending, but it is opacity-based, blending a visual and thermal image together using an overlay. FLIR MSX provides a much more detailed image.

Both cameras have a similar form factor. Fotric 348A-L25 has a 5-inch screen compared to a 4-inch screen on the E95. However, the usable thermal image is about the same size. Fotric applies a letterbox affect around the image which allows for more measurement parameters to be displayed.

Both cameras also have a nearly identical user interface and menu structure. Pressing the center button on both cameras brings up the main menu tray where you can access measurement modes, image blending, color palettes, and more.

Both cameras include reporting software. FLIR E95 comes with FLIR Tools for free. The more powerful and professional FLIR Studio reporting software is available with a subscription. Fotric 348A-L25 comes with AnalyzIR pro software for free which rivals FLIR Studio.

Both cameras also include hardshell cases. With FLIR, you get a rugged case with engineered cutouts so everything fits perfectly. With Fotric, the hard case houses a soft case which holds the camera and accessories.

Overall, Fotric 348A-L25 is a strong and affordable option for professional thermography. It has nearly all the same features and functions as an equivalent FLIR camera - but it costs thousands of dollars less.
