Overview

Flir’s Generation Two model improved on the original by increasing the resolution and opening the platform to nearly every smartphone on the market. The Generation Three model improves on the principle of universal compatibility with their OneFit™ connector. It’s designed to fit any device or tablet regardless of case. Flir is also making the new Flir One more affordable, with a starting list price of $199.99, down from $249.99 with the Gen 2. The Flir One Gen 3 also is a USB-C connection by default as opposed to the Flir One Gen 2 which is USB Micro. A USB Micro adapter is included with the Flir One Gen 3 for Android.

Flir will now be offering an entry level ONE Gen 3 and a high performance ONE Pro. The best technical improvements are found with the Flir One Pro model. Along with Flir’s MSX technology that interlaces visual details with thermal imaging, the Pro will have VividIR™, a “super resolution” processing technology that Flir has said provides the sharpest mobile thermal imaging ever. With a 160 x 120 sensor, MSX, and this new technology, that should be true! Both cameras take advantage of Flir’s new app design, a more social approach to thermal imaging with case studies and problem-solving tutorials.
