What is the difference between the FLIR E4 and FLIR i7?

Comparison Guide

Overview

The E4 and i7 from FLIR each provide powerful IR imaging capabilities in a compact, handheld form factor which is easily portable and comfortable to use all day in demanding environments – whether used for building, electrical, and mechanical applications, these cameras will perform whenever you need them.

The FLIR E4 has a thermal resolution of 80x60 with thermal sensitivity of 150mK and 9 Hz frame rate. This camera is at home in demanding industrial applications thanks to its 2-meter drop test and IP54 ratings. The E4 also has Wi-Fi connectivity so you can easily transfer images to the FLIR Tools App. In the App, you can analyze and edit images before sending out professional reports directly from the App.

The E4 comes standard with FLIR’s powerful MSX technology built-in. This technology embosses visible light details onto thermal images, so you can see exactly what you’re looking at – reference images are no longer needed. Temperature measurement range for the E4 covers -4°F to 482°F. The camera has an accuracy rating of ±2% or ±2°C. With these specifications, and the power of MSX, the E4 provides crisp IR images with high levels of detail. The E4 also features a large 3-inch screen as well as FLIR’s leading 10-5-2 warranty, providing 10-year coverage on the IR detector, 5-years on the battery, and 2-years on the product.

The i7 has a thermal resolution of 140x140 with thermal sensitivity of 100mK and a 9 Hz frame rate. This camera can measure temperatures from -4°F to 482°F. The i7 is also quite durable – the camera is drop tested to 2 meters and features an IP43 rating. The camera also has an accuracy rating of ±2% or ±2°C and features a 2.8-inch screen. Unfortunately, the i7 does not include FLIR’s MSX Image Enhancement technology.

The i7 features multiple measurement modes including spotmeter, area with max./min. temperature, and isotherm above/below. The camera also comes with FLIR’s powerful FLIR Tools reporting software. You can transfer files to your PC from the i7 via USB then analyze and edit images in FLIR Tools. The camera does include FLIR’s leading 10-5-2 warranty, providing 10-year coverage on the IR detector, 5-years on the battery, and 2-years on the product.
