Overview

The FLIR C3 and FLIR ONE Pro are each fully-featured thermal cameras in a small, pocket-sized form factor. These tools are designed to be easily carried with you in a pocket so you are ready to capture thermal images no matter the job. This makes these tools perfect for DIY home repair, building inspections, facilities maintenance, HVAC, or electrical repair.

While both are very small, compact units, each has a different form factor. The C3 is about the size of smartphone and includes a built-in touchscreen display and WiFi connectivity for easy image transfer. The FLIR ONE Pro actually requires that you have a smartphone for it to function – the ONE Pro is an external accessory for you Apple or Android smartphone which makes use of the phone’s own screen and wireless capabilities. Depending on your application, one might be more suited for you.

For the purpose of this comparison we are discussing the Gen 3 FLIR ONE Pro. We have linked to the FLIR ONE Pro iOS version, as the specs for the Android versions are exactly the same. You can view Android versions from that page under "Compare Products in this Series" or follow these links for your specific version: Android USB-C /// Android Micro-USB

Comparison

The FLIR C3 is slim and sturdy enough to keep in your pocket yet it includes the advanced features you need to find potential problems. This light, slim device features a 3-inch touchscreen with auto orientation as well as an area box measurement mode and WiFi connectivity. With WiFi, you can transfer images wirelessly from the C3 to mobile devices with the free FLIR Tools App installed. Then you can use FLIR Tools to analyze and edit images before sending out reports directly from the App.

The C3 also lets you stream live non-radiometric IR video to mobile devices over WiFi, a feature usually only found on high-end cameras. The C3 also includes FLIR MSX Image Enhancement technology which embosses visual details onto your infrared images. When MSX adds in these details to your IR images, you get unmatched clarity and detail where numbers, labels, and structural elements are clearly visible. This makes reporting easier and eliminates the need for visible light reference images.

The FLIR ONE Pro is even more compact than the C3 - since it’s an attachment for your smartphone and not a full thermal camera, it measures only 2.7in x 1.3in x .6in in size! Since you’re probably already carrying your smartphone, with FLIR ONE Pro you only need to carry one additional item and it’s smaller than a pack of gum. FLIR ONE Pro features FLIR’s unique OneFit adapter, so you can adjust the length of USB-C and Lightening connectors up to an additional 4mm – this means the ONE Pro will work with your phone even when you’re using a protective case.
