Fieldpiece Environmental Testers / Physical Property
In this category you will find a range of meters from Fieldpiece for measuring environmental variables. The two main types of meters available from Fieldpiece are Anemometers and Psychrometers. These meters are designed specifically with the HVACR professional in mind. Anemometers for calculating CFM and performing duct traverses are available. Psychrometers for taking four evaporator measurements at one time are also available from Fieldpiece.
Additionally Fieldpiece offers wireless, modularly expandable versions of both of these types of instruments. This means is that you only need to purchase one Fieldpiece stick meter, which is essentially a standalone digital multimeter but with the capability to connect to various Fieldpiece measurement attachments. Rather than purchasing multiple meters, you can use an anemometer or psychrometer head attachment on your stick meter and it effectively becomes a different meter. Fieldpiece offers five unique modular heads that replace individual anemometers and psychrometers. Each of these attachments also allows you to perform wireless measurements. By leaving the attachment at the measurement site you are free to take your Fieldpiece stick meter up to 100 feet away and still read real-time measurements.

Fieldpiece Anemometers
Fieldpiece Anemometers measure air movement. The term derives from the word
anemos, which means wind, and refers to any air speed measurement instrument. There are a variety of types of anemometers, including sonic, vane (windmill), hot-wire, cup, and laser. Fieldpiece offers two types of hot-wire anemometers.
The first of these meters is a modular attachment for Fieldpiece's innovative modular expandability system mentioned above. This device is not only a replacement for standalone anemometers but also allows for wireless measurement up to 100 feet away from the stick meter.
The other hot-wire anemometer available from Fieldpiece is a standalone in-duct, hot-wire anemometer designed for the air balancing needs of HVACR professionals. This type of anemometer uses electrically heated wires to take air velocity measurements. When flowing air cools the wires the device uses the temperature change to calculate air velocity. This particular meter from Fieldpiece features a 38 inch telescoping probe and a dual display which can show any combination of real-time CFM, air velocity, or temperature simultaneously.

Fieldpiece Psychrometers
Fieldpiece Psychrometers are designed specifically for HVACR use by professionals. These instruments measure relative humidity by using the difference between two different thermometer readings. One reading is taken with a wet bulb and the other with a dry bulb.
Psychrometers are different from humidity meters, which measure humidity based on temperature, dew point, and relative humidity. Humidity refers to the amount of moisture present. Relative humidity is the ratio of the moisture present compared to the amount of moisture needed for saturation. Psychrometers calculate relative humidity, while humidity meters measure moisture content by measuring various parameters such as temperature, dew points, and more.
Two main types of psychrometer are available from Fieldpiece. The first is a wireless modular expandability attachment for Fieldpiece stick meters called the
Fieldpiece ARH4. This device measures both relative humidity and ambient temperature. It can also be effectively used to calculate target superheat. The ARH4 is unique because it is a digital sling psychrometer. Traditional analog sling psychrometers used two thermometers, one dry bulb and one wet. The ARH4 uses advanced digital thermistor and hygrometer sensors that sense temperature and moisture in the air. These combined with built-in psychometric charts allow the meter to calculate dew point and wet bulb.
The other psychrometers available from Fieldpiece are standalone units. These feature one or two 38 inch telescoping probes for taking measurements inside ducts. These instruments are capable of taking standard psychrometer measurements like relative humidity, wet bulb, and dew point. However one Fieldpiece psychrometer is capable of taking four evaporator measurements at one time: supply wet bulb, supply dry bulb, return wet bulb, and return dry bulb. This gives HVACR professionals more insight into HVAC evaporator performance than any other psychrometer will.
