Receptacle Testers detect five separate faults: Open Ground, Open Neutral, Open Hot, Hot/Ground Reverse, and Hot/Neutral Reverse. They are used to test GFCI circuits and 3-wire receptacles, and they confirm proper wiring and operation of AC sockets. Receptacle testers are available in various styles to meet a range of needs.
