Shunts

A shunt is an electrical component which creates a low resistance path for electric current to follow and pass around a point in a circuit. Shunts can also be used as ammeters to measure current that is too high to be measured by a regular ammeter by placing the shunt in series with the load so that all of the current to be measured will flow through it. Shunts come in a variety of voltage, amperage, and resistance ratings.
