It worked, but very poor mechanical workmanship
2.0
My Weller W60P iron has lasted 40 years, but finally the heater element gave out. This replacement was well priced including shipping, and works good. It's much cheaper than buying a new unit. However, there is a serious issue with the threads on this unit. They're cut very poorly (due to poor maintenance on the cutting equipment), so you must use some oil and pliers on the nut to gently back-and-forth cut the threads to where they mate properly. Be careful not to cross-thread it, and go slowly and it should work. End result: it works, and the old nut still works good and is easily removed. I recommend spending a few extra dollars and buy a new knurled tip nut part number KN60A along with this. Use the old nut to cut the threads, then install the new nut. Side note: I bought a brand new W100P iron recently, and it has the same thread issue, only on that one the threads are permanently messed up. Quality control is very poor on Weller products now. I only keep using mine because it lasted 40 years.
