FLIR Vue is an affordable thermal camera customized to give sUAS operators all of the thermal imaging capability you need at a price you can handle. Small, lightweight, affordable and easy to integrate, FLIR Vue is a snap to install and get in the air. Simply use a GoPro-compatible 10-pin mini-USB cable to give the camera 5 volts of power and get analog thermal video out to your OSD or video transmitter, and you're ready to fly. FLIR Vue's light weight won't drag down your flight times or throw off your aircraft's center of gravity. With FLIR Vue you get all the thermal imager you need for UAV operations without having to pay for functionality you'll never use. Pre-configured to give you optimal imagery in a wide variety of conditions, FLIR Vue is light enough that it won't throw off your center of gravity or impact your flight times. With simple power-in and video-out connections, it's easy to integrate and get flying on just about any platform. The FLIR Vue camera does not produce images from visible light like the human eye does. The camera relies on the fact that all objects, even very cold objects like ice, emit thermal (heat) energy in the portion of the spectrum that the camera can see, the long wave infrared (LWIR). Unlike a visible-light camera, the FLIR Vue camera produces images based on radiated rather than reflected energy. The Vue comes in 640x512 and 336x256 Variants.
Just plug in a GoPro-compatible cable into the 10-pin mini-USB connector to feed the camera a regulated 5VDC power supply and get analog video out to your video transmitter or OSD, and you're ready to go.
Because of FLIR Vue's light weight, you’ve got lots of mounting options available to you on any kind of aircraft. Whether you want to hard-mount it or put it on a brushless gimbal, FLIR Vue can do the job.
There's really nothing to it. Since all of the configuration has already been done, just power it up and go fly. But if you want to dig into the settings a little deeper, just download our Camera Controller GUI and connect FLIR Vue to your PC with a USB cable.
FLIR Vue is compatible with common 10-pin mini-USB cables that are used to provide power to, and get video from, a camera mounted on a small unmanned aerial system (sUAS). A couple of examples are shown below. A number of vendors sell cables compatible with video transmitters which supply the 5 Vdc, 500 mA power the FLIR Vue needs. Connect the video transmitter per the manufacturer’s instructions. Another example of a compatible cable which provides discrete connectors for power and video is shown below.
