Vaisala HMD70 Relative Humidity and Temperature transmitters offer an economical solution for general purpose RH&T measurement in HVAC and building automation applications. The Vaisala HMD70 incorporates HUMICAP technology for a reliable, stable and accurate indication of relative humidity and temperature in duct systems designed for building ventilation. Vaisala HMD70 transmitters are suitable for many industrial humidity monitoring applications. The incorporated HUMICAP sensor is also offered in many more expensive Vaisala RH&T transmitters for its resistance to chemical attack and established stability. A unique feature of the Vaisala HMD70 duct mount transmitter is the ability to remove the electronics without removing the unit from the duct itself. Additionally calibration can be checked onsite with a Vaisala HM70 portable RH&T sensor. Adjustment is simply carried out via a potentiometer until reading matches that of the portable reference sensor. The duct mounted Vaisala HUMICAP® Humidity and Temperature Transmitter HMD70T is designed for monitoring relative humidity and temperature in energy management systems in buildings. The combination of high accuracy, stability and reliable operation makes this product the ideal choice for demanding applications. On-site calibration has been made easy with the high precision trimmers and compatibility with the Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM70. The HMD70T has user selectable 0…1 V, 0…5 V or 0…10 V outputs corresponding to 0…100%RH and -20…+80 °C (-4…+176 ° F) temperature.
The duct mount HMD60 and HMD70 transmitters can also be used in many industrial humidity monitoring applications, where their stability and resistance to chemicals and dust are of great value. A useful feature of these duct mount transmitters is the ability to remove the electronics without removing the unit from the duct.
The accuracy of the transmitters is simple to check using either the Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM70 or the Vaisala HUMICAP® Humidity Indicator HMI41. The calibration can be done in seconds with a single potentiometer without disturbing the operation, resulting in great savings both in maintenance time and costs.
The HMD70U/Y duct mounted humidity and temperature transmitters are three- wire transmitters. Mount the transmitter with two screws. Place the drilling template on the duct surface and drill the holes as indicated. Remember to drill an additional hole for calibration purposes. The calibration can be conveniently performed on site with the HMI41 or HM70 indicator equipped with an appropriate probe and optional calibration cable. Open the lid and mount the cable bushing set. If your transmitter has cable gland bushing (part no. 18941HM). When connecting the signal cable to the transmitter housing, fold the cable braid between the brass disk in order to achieve the best EMC performance. Do not leave the bare shield of the connected wires so that it can shortcircuit the electronics!
