Tronex Miniature Taper Head Cutters
The Tronex Miniature Taper Head Cutters are made of carbon steel with tapered heads that allow for access into tight areas. They are used only for exceptionally fine cutting work when access to the cutting area is difficult. The relieved head allows for access underneath objects.
Tronex offers multiple cutting-edge finishes for our Oval and Taper Head cutters to meet your specific desired cutting results. The oval and taper head cutters are available in three edge finishes: Semi-Flush, Flush, and Razor Flush.
Semi-Flush cutting edges feature a small edge bevel on the cutter and are typically used to cut the thicker wire and leads. Semi-Flush edges will leave a "pinch" in the middle of the end of the material being cut. These cutting edges will resist dulling most of the three cutting edges.
Flush cutting edges feature a very thin edge bevel on the cutter that leaves only an exceptionally small "pinch" in the middle of the end of the material being cut. Many users prefer a Flush edge finish because it provides a balance between a long cutting life, a flush cut, and cost.
Razor Flush cutting edges feature no bevel on the cutters. This results in exceptionally sharp edges which produce cuts with virtually no raised surface on the lead. The cutter operates like two razor blades coming together. Each cutter has a fine set screw stop built into the jaw of the cutter to prevent the edges from dulling. The Razor Flush edge finish on Tronex cutters is executed by a proprietary process and thus unmatched by any other precision cutting tool in the world.
Most Tronex hand tools come in two handle lengths: a short, standard option or a long, ergonomic option. The short, standard handle comes in at about 2.5" (two and a half inches) in length, while the long, ergonomic handle is about 3.5" (three and a half inches) in length.
