How to Choose a Cable Reel

When choosing a cable reel, it is important to consider how it will be used. Ask yourself the following questions:
  • What type of cable or hose will be on the reel?
  • If a hose will be on the reel, what will you put through the hose (air, water, etc.)?
  • What is the maximum pressure (in P.S.I.) needed for operation?
  • How will you be using the cable or hose? (Will it be stretched, lifted, dragged, or retrieved?)
  • How far out will the hose or cable need to retract?
  • Is a ball stop required for the application?
  • Is an inlet hose assembly needed to connect hose reel and source of supply?
