Rapidly freeze plasma with the new Thermo Scientific XBF40D-MD -40°C Blast Freezer - a breakthrough sample preparation device for use prior to cold storage. Your freezer is not a sample preparation device. Ultra-low and laboratory-grade freezers are designed to maintain samples at cold temperatures for long-term storage. They are not designed for and do not have the speed or refrigeration capacity to rapidly freeze plasma and other critical storage. Using the new XBF40D-MD for rapid cooling reduces the stress on your sample storage freezer, and freezes your plasma quickly and efficiently. Your freezer is not a sample preparation device Ultra-low and laboratory-grade freezers are designed to maintain samples at cold temperatures for long-term storage. They are not designed for, and do not have the speed or refrigeration capacity to rapidly freeze plasma and other critical storage. Using the new XBF40 series of blast freezers for rapid cooling reduces the stress on your sample storage freezer, and freezes your samples quickly and efficiently.
These examples show how much time you can save by using the XBF40D to bring any critical sample, or volume, to storage temperatures. As shown below, a test of 5L bottles filled with 3.5L of tap water reached 0°C on average of 100 minutes and -30°C on average of 600 minutes. A grouping of 2mL vials reached 0°C in 5 minutes and -30°C in 25 minutes.
In a test comparing freezing times between the XBF40D and a -80°C ultra-low freezer, a group of 5L bottles on average reached -70°C in the XBF40D 75% faster than an ultra-low freezer.
