Incredible Piece of Hardware
5.0
Simply going to be the best scope in this price range, as a beginner the software is really intuitive in my opinion. If there is something you don't know the manual and internet will probably find your way. The webui is very valuable too, the absence of a HDMI out is made up by it. This is going to probably be the best scope in this price category! Has everything you need unless you need the superior software support provided by scopes completely out of this price range.

Great Value Scope
5.0
The features included at this price point are amazing. Other than just standard triggers, the serial triggers and decoding have come in super useful once you learn how to use them. The probes of the scope seem to be decent quality and this scope seemed to be delivering similar or better accuracy to some 3rd party calibrated Tektronix scopes. The Internet connectivity of the scope is extremely useful for exporting data as you are able to download data without a USB. An Ethernet cable is not included. Fan is pretty noisy, but startup and warm up time of the scope is short enough such that you can turn off when not in use for extended time periods.

Capable and affordable with amazing features
5.0
I am in the early stages of getting to know my SDS804X HD. I am a long-time electronics hobbyist, and this is not my first oscilloscope, but it is my first digital storage oscilloscope. Others will be better able to speak to the accuracy of the scope or its comparison to other DSOs; my review is from the perspective of a DSO newbie who is getting to know both DSOs in general and this scope in particular.
Some early observations:
* Unusually well written manuals (Getting Started and Users manuals). I have encountered no more than a couple of minor typos, and perhaps one or two places where the explanation is not entirely clear, but overall, these are generally clear, helpful, and demonstrate good standard English.
* Generally clear and logical user interface. Of course, there is always a learning curve for any UI, and I am still on that journey; nonetheless, once I have understood where a setting or feature is located or how to access it, it has made sense, seems logical, and is generally consistent across the UI.
* An astonishing wealth of features. Some of this observation represents my first encounter with a DSO, but even so ... the number of different measurements, analyses, math functions is far beyond what one might expect of an entry-level scope. Even more amazing to me is the incredible range of triggering options. I will be experimenting with all of these for a long time!
* Physical characteristics. I cannot compare to other scopes, but I am delighted with the compact size and modest weight of the scope - and yet it feels substantial and sits very solidly and stably, with no concern that it will tip or rock when pressing buttons or accessing controls. The fan is noticeable but not loud or annoying. The screen is bright and clear, and responds to touch with little or no lag.
A few minor gripes:
* A few of the touch-screen controls are small enough that they can be difficult to activate for those of us with oversized fingers - a slightly larger "hot spot" around the control would be helfpul.
* The fold-out feet that place the scope at a convenient viewing angle do not have any resistance to folding back up. Once set in place, the scope sits solidly and stably, but any time I move the scope (e.g., to access a port on the back), the feet inevitably fold back. A positive "click" that helps to hold the feet in position would be most helpful.
* No support of USB wifi dongles. It is not all that hard to set up a $25 USB-powered wifi-to-ethernet bridge, but it is much less convenient and much bulkier than a simple USB wifi dongle.
No doubt I will uncover more delights and gripes as I continue to learn the scope. But the bottom line is that I can enthusiastically recommend this scope, even for a DSO newbie. The gripes are minor; the capabilities are amazing; the price is affordable. Get one!

Fantastic Value, Great For Beginners
5.0
I purchased the SDS804X HD from the perspective of a beginner. It has been decades since I last used an oscilloscope, and that was an old analog model. I wanted to get back in to the hobby of electronics. The affordability of the SDS800X line immediately had me interested. I carefully examined the spec sheet of this Siglent with its nearest competitor (nearly identical specs, same price). The Siglent scope had noticeably better specifications for the front-end, so I went with it.
My primary concern was usability as a beginner. The SDS804X HD exceeded my expectations. I did a quick run through the manual to identify the most important controls and compensate the probes. Then, with almost no other training, I began making measurements. It is incredible how intuitive navigating the scope is. I had zero trouble understanding the settings and how they worked together. I was able to use an RF signal generator to create various modulated signals, and used the scopes FFT function to view the output in the frequency domain (split screen, exclusive, all easy). It was dead simple to understand the measurement functions and cursor capabilities. All without opening the manual once.
The physical build quality of the scope is excellent, especially at this price point. The dark color scheme is easy on the eyes. It does tend to make dust and fingerprints visible, but that might be a good thing. I do have a couple legitimate grievances with the physical quality. The first is fan noise. The fan seems to always be running on a relatively high setting. It gets warm to the touch (not hot, just noticeably warm). If noise is a concern, this isn't the scope. There might be concerns using it in a hot or dusty environment as well. The next issue I have are the feet. They don't lock in place, so pushing the scope around a desk causes the feet to fold in. It isn't a major issue, but it is annoying. It would have been much better if they firmly locked in place. Another minor complaint is the touch screen. It is just a little on the small side. As a result, occasionally I will accidentally press the wrong control or button. However, given the affordable nature of this product it isn't a major issue. Using the web interface to control the scope solves it.
I have now tested several features of the scope such as Bode plots, working the scope using the web interface (fantastic), various trigger modes, and more. The biggest surprise to me was simply how easy it is to use and understand. I thought I would be pouring over the manual for hours to make certain measurements or understand some of the more advanced functions. I have since had to look at the manual a couple of times to understand one or two features. The vast majority of features simply make intuitive sense. The software is very well designed and feels high quality.
If you are a beginner like me, you might find the Siglent SDS800X series to be a welcoming first scope. I could also see this being useful anywhere a fairly basic scope is required or where space is a concern (it is quite compact). It also seems quite adequate for remote control.
