Overview
The Flir Scout TK and Seek Thermal Reveal both offer an economical solution for outdoor thermal imaging. There are two primary considerations in comparing the two models, form factor and effective resolution.
The Scout TK has a 160 x 120 pixel sensor, where the Seek Thermal Reveal has a 206 x 156 sensor. In most cases, more pixels mean a better image. However, the Seek Thermal Reveal has a wider field of view, 36 x 27 degrees versus the Flir Scout TK's 20 x 15 degrees. With a smaller field of view, the images on the Flir Scout should appear sharper than Seek Reveals, but with fewer objects on the screen.
The form factor of the two cameras is very different, monocular vs. handheld. The Seek Thermal Reveal is designed to be held in your hand with the screen pointed upwards, held away from the body. The Scout TK is held to your eye. In some circumstances, either may be desirable. If screen glow is undesirable, a monocular is the perfect design. If you want to look around corners, the handheld monitor is much better. Both can take pictures and are ruggedized for outdoor use.
