SCS 6HIC200-CF - Cobalt-Free Humidity Card, 6 Spot, 200 Cards per Can
An integral part of a complete moisture barrier packaging assembly is the Humidity Indicator Card. High relative humidity can cause significant, possibly irreparable damage to sensitive equipment, supplies, and products. To ensure dehydration measures work, humidity indicator cards measure the relative humidity (RH) inside sealed packages to allow immediate visual inspection of whether it has sustained unsafe humidity levels.
Cobalt-free Humidity Indicator Cards (HIC-CF) are printed with moisture-sensitive spots which respond to various levels of humidity with a visible color change from brown to yellow. The moisture-sensitive spots are made of blotting paper impregnated with a non-cobaltous solution. The humidity inside dry-packed barrier bags can be monitored by including a HIC inside. When the bag is opened, the card can be examined for proper dryness inside the bag.
This card is free of cobalt, a chemical that has classification and labeling requirements under European Chemical Agency (ECHA) REACH directives. Our Cobalt-free HICs’ chemistry formula involves a sulfur compound, but no cobalt compounds.
Cobalt-Free Humidity Monitor cards are sold in cans. Cobalt-Free Humidity Indicator Cards should be inserted and sealed within a Moisture Barrier Bag with the desiccant packs.
Note: The complete dry package concept of packaging for electronics requires three elements:
- Moisture Barrier Bags - to protect
- Desiccants - to absorb moisture
- Humidity Indicator Cards - to monitor performance
