Rohde and Schwarz ZPH-K7 - Modulation Analysis AM/FM/ASK/FSK for ZPH (.12 Models Only)

The R&S ZPH-K7 option converts the R&S CableRider ZPH into a modulation analyzer to measure the quality of amplitude or frequency modulated signals. The analog modulation display shows the waveform as well as measurement parameters such as carrier power, carrier offset, modulation index (depth) for AM signals, frequency deviation for FM signals, SINAD, and THD. The modulation summary display provides user-definable limits for each measurement. This feature is especially useful for installation and maintenance of AM/FM radio stations.

Basic digital modulation formats are used in many applications, e.g. near-field communications. The R&S CableRider ZPH supports both ASK and FSK analysis. The digital modulation displays include trace, eye diagram, modulation error, and symbol analysis. Specialized configuration presets for Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) and tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) are available, too. The R&S ZPH-K7 option lets users easily verify the quality of the basic modulated signals.

R&S ZPH-K7 is used for modulation analysis. It measures the quality of amplitude or frequency modulated signals. The modulation display shows the waveform as well as measurement parameters.

Analog Demodulation

The Analog Demodulation measurement analyzes the AM or FM modulated signals and calculates the analog modulation parameters using the measurement results. Note that the measurement works properly only if you apply an amplitude or frequency modulated signal. This firmware option provides the necessary measurement functions to analyze amplitude and frequency modulated signals.

The digital signal processing in the R&S Cable Rider ZPH is used for demodulating amplitude and frequency modulated signals.

By sampling (digitization) already at the IF and digital down-conversion to the baseband (I/Q), the demodulator achieves maximum accuracy and temperature stability. There is no evidence of typical errors of an analog down-conversion and demodulation like AM to FM conversion and vice versa, deviation error, frequency response or frequency drift at DC coupling.

Digital Demodulation

The Digital Demodulation measurement analyzes the Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) and Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) modulated signals and calculates the digital modulation parameters. The results are displayed in four different display mode diagrams: "Eye Diagram", "Symbols", "Modulation Depth" for ASK or "Modulation Deviation" for FSK and "Modulation Error".

The firmware option R&S ZPH-K7 provides the necessary measurement functions to analyze ASK and FSK modulated signals.
