The R&S HM8012 is a programmable digital multimeter with 8 primary measurement functions, including 42 ranges. Auto-ranging provides optimum resolution of an unknown input magnitude. The bright 5-digit display will represent a measured magnitude of up to 50,000 points. The absolute resolution obtained is 10 µV, 10 nA or 10 MΩ at a basic dc accuracy of 0.05%. Input resistance exceeds 1 GΩ in the VDC mode allowing precise measurement on high source resistance. True RMS measurements of AC voltage/current even of distorted waveforms are made up to 100 kHz and AC+DC values can be evaluated.
With a base accuracy of 0.015% in the DC range, the HMC8012 can display up to 3 measured values on the brilliant TFT color screen, including a DC voltage, a AC voltage and related statistics. The HMC8012 offers 12 different measurement functions: VDC and IDC, True RMS VAC and IAC, frequency, 2- and 4-wire resistance, capacity, continuity, diode, temperature and performance. Extensive math functions such as limit testing, min/max, means, offset, DC performance, dB and dBm are available to facilitate measurement tests.
The HM8012 multimeter is capable of making temperature measurement with a Pt100 sensor in °C or °F up to 0.1° resolution. At diode measurements, the HM8012 shows the junction voltage of the DUT, while a constant current is supplied. Analysis of audio and communication circuits is easy, because you can read in dB with a resolution of 0.01 dB.
All instrument functions can be controlled via a RS-232 standard interface, with the provided software under Windows®. Gradients can be recorded over a given time and can processed under Excel
The programming feature of the HM8012 permits integration in an automatic test environment as a system multimeter. The PC software supplied with the HM8012 may be used to control the instrument or to automatically record measurement results. The measurement results will be shown in numeric and graphical form.
