Absolute Mess
1.0
I don't generally write reviews for products but never have I seen such poor software for $500. The application notes are vague, software help is useless and there is very limited online community support. The best instructions are actually from Tekbox. Tekbox offers up a huge list of configuration and limit files under S1210-Config-Files.zip. Tekbox has an appnote for configuring the S1210 software and how to import all the settings. For a moment I thought I was making progress until I ran the software and it crashed and closed. Think hard about buying the DSA815-TG EMI Software Key S1210 license. I wish I could get my money back and try the EMCView by Tekbox.

Response from TEquipment:
Thank you for your feedback on this RIGOL software. We have shared your review with the manufacturer directly and they have suggested you give them a call for direct assistance in getting it up and running and configured.
TEqupment is open to working together with you to get you what will work best, even if it is Tekbox software.
Please contact us directly for RIGOL's contact information and to provide us with your order details so we can help you further.
We will hope to hear from you soon!

Way overpriced for buggy software
3.0
I loved the concept when I bought a DSA800 series analyzer, but this software has proven buggy with very limited support from the MFR.
I agree with other reviews that most of the functions of this software can be performed without the software.
I have a small list of "nits" with the software that I am compiling, here's a few of them:
1) No easy way of making custom limit lines. I've tried to replicate MIL-STD-461 limit lines and you have to manually type the list of frequencies/levels into an external text file. Ramps between levels turn into convex curves instead of straight lines, etc.
2) You cannot run an "official" test with report unless you have peaks over the limit. Huh? No report option for an acceptable sweep? Grrh...
3) Etc... Just weird operation with a useless help file.

No clear reason to buy this software.
1.0
As far as I can tell, there is nothing this software does that can't be performed more easily and reliably in another way. I gave up trying to get the software to correctly apply calibration data (something excel can easily do). If everything is configured correctly, tests run almost automatically (but the tests run almost automatically without the software if correctly configured.) The software makes a pretty graph. (However, real analysis must be done elsewhere so I can easily make my own graph). With the price of this software included you're starting to approach the cost of an instrument made by someone besides Rigol. Spend less on Rigol and avoid this software or spend more on an instrument made by someone else. Rigol with this software is an unhappy medium.
TEquipmen.NET Response:
S1210 software provides a few important capabilities for RIGOL Spectrum Analyzers. For basic debugging of EMI signals, the instruments work great from the front panel as you have found. The first thing S1210 makes possible is the separating of subranges in a test. This is crucial for testing spectrum for hot spots where you need to change attenuation, PreAmp, or RBW settings to optimize measurements in a range. Second, S1210 then makes it possible to automatically sequence these ranges in a test stitching data together from different ranges in a single graph. S1210 also comes with a set of preconfigured limit lines. Users can make their own limit lines on the instrument, but having access to a library of limits that are predefined for each test across a number of subranges is important for some EMI testing. S1210 has a simple interface in the data manager for creating your own limits as well as creating or loading correction files for your test setup. Lastly, S1210 enables sequences of tests within the test tree. Now you can setup a number of tests each with independent subranges, setups, and limit lines.
RIGOL's analyzers are completely controllable over USB or LAN making it easy to use Excel, Matlab, LabVIEW, Python, or the programming method of your choice if you want to do your own automation. Some RIGOL instruments have drivers available for tools like Teseq's EMC Software. We find the S1210 software to be an important middle ground for some customers who need some basic EMC automation, graphing, and reproducable test structure but don't want to invest in a full software test system for managing this data. This is excellent feedback and we are working on ways to make the data more available in the test reports.

RIGOL S1210 EMI PRE-COMPLIANCE PC SOFTWARE
5.0
The DSA815 Spectrum Analyzer is a great product and this software package is a good addition to it. I still have some things to learn, but having the ability to operate the analyzer from my laptop is great.

Rigol S1210 Back to Reviews
3.0
Finally got working code to install S1210 software have just started the use of the software, had to wait on Rigol overseas to assign a working authorization code. US Rigol support was great but I am disappointed in Rigol. High pricing on software options, delays in delivery, malfunctioning codes.

S1210 EMI software
4.0
Works well with the DSA815 but a bit complex to setup as a number of inputs give an error about not being able use with the DSA815 so it would be better if the software only offered settings that the DSA815 or whatever model was connected. Not much in the way of help either or a get you going manual. Video's don't really help much. I am still trying to get a decent setup for EMI testing as not yet worked out what settings actually work with the DSA815.
