The Rigol MSO5102 is a two-channel, 100 MHz digital/mixed-signal oscilloscope with a real-time sample rate of up to 8 GSa/s. Easily upgraded, it can be converted into a four-channel oscilloscope via a software key code. It also includes 16 digital channels as a standard feature - simply add the optional PLA2216 logic probe to operate. The Rigol MSO5000 series digital oscilloscope is a high-performance instrument based on Rigol’s UltraVision II technology. With a real-time sample rate of up to 8 GSa/s and extremely high memory depth, the MSO5000 seamlessly integrates 7 instruments into one - oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, arbitrary waveform generator and much more. The MSO5000 also features a 9 inch, capacitive multi touch screen with 256 level intensity grading and color persistence. The MSO5000 Series compares strongly with competitive models from Tektronix, Keysight, R&S, and Siglent on price while providing superior performance specifications, rich advanced analysis features, and next-generation UI. The MSO5000 Series provides some of the strongest value available in the basic embedded market.
The innovative physical appearance and thin design of the instrument not only make the LCD display prominent, but also make it portable and easy to operate.
Bandwidth and the sample rate are two key technical specifications that engineers take priority in choosing the digital oscilloscope. Bandwidth determines the maximum frequency that the oscilloscope can acquire. The higher the bandwidth of the oscilloscope, the better the oscilloscope can keep the steep, fast, abundant harmonics components and energies of the signal under test. Whereas the sample rate determines the time interval of the sample points, that is, determines the refinement of the outlined waveforms. The MSO5000 series provides a maximum of 8 GSa/s real-time sample rate and 23X sample rate/bandwidth ratio for 350 MHz bandwidth, which makes itself far ahead of the same level products.
While maintaining the super high sample rate of 8 GSa/s, the MSO5000 series also has a maximum of 200 Mpts memory depth, enabling itself to capture more events in one acquisition. This provides sufficient time for users to observe while retaining the waveform details to a large extent. Thus, users can not only get the detailed information about the waveforms, but also can take an overview of the waveforms.
In today's integrated design field, a comprehensive digital oscilloscope has become a useful tool for design engineers. The MSO5000 series digital oscilloscope combines 7 independent instruments into 1, including a digital oscilloscope, 16-channel logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, arbitrary waveform generator, digital voltmeter, high-precision frequency counter and totalizer, and protocol analyzer. The MSO5000 series offers you a flexible and economical solution to fit your particular application.
The Web Control software is a standard configuration for the MSO5000 series. You can use the software to migrate the instrument control and waveform analysis to the PC, and then click the mouse to operate easily. You only need to input the IP address of the oscilloscope into the address bar of the Web browser to open the Web Control software. The display of the waveform interface and instrument control in the software are consistent with that in the MSO5000 series. You can use the mouse to tap the keys or knobs in the Web Control interface to complete the waveform control, measurement, and analysis. In the Web Control interface, the basic information of the instrument is displayed, and you can also upload or download the files of the oscilloscope, control with the SCPI commands, set or modify the network status.

It is more cost effective to purchase an MSO5000 with the bandwidth already installed, as opposed to upgrading the bandwidth and number of channels at a later date. Using the MSO5354 as an example: MSO5354 Four channels, 350 MHz $3999 MSO5072 Two channels, 70 MHz $909 To get the MSO5072 up to the same specifications as the MSO5354, you would need: 70 to 350 MHz bandwidth upgrade $3099 2 to 4 channel upgrade $399 The overall cost of the MSO5072 being converted to an MSO5354 ends up being $4407. The MSO5354 is $3999, making it $408 less.

The MSO5000 is offered in four bandwidths, as well as 2 and 4 channel models. Please note, the bandwidth and number of channels are upgradeable. The following is an overview of each: MSO5072 - 70 MHz, Two Channel MSO5074 - 70 MHz, Four Channel MSO5102 - 100 MHz, Two Channel MSO5104 - 100 MHz, Four Channel MSO5204 - 200 MHz, Four Channel MSO5354 - 350 MHz, Four Channel
The Rigol MSO5000 series includes 16 digital channels. Usage requires the optional PLA2216 logic probe.
The channels are easily upgraded with a software key code. The part number for this is MSO5000-4CH. Please note, upgrading the number of channels from two to four will require the purchase of an additional two PVP2350 probes.
Bandwidth on the MSO5000 is upgraded with a software keycode. The following are part numbers for MSO5000 upgrades: MSO5000-BW0T1 - Bandwidth upgrade from 70MHz to 100MHz MSO5000-BW0T2 - Bandwidth upgrade from 70MHz to 200MHz MSO5000-BW0T3 - Bandwidth upgrade from 70MHz to 350MHz MSO5000-BW1T2 - Bandwidth upgrade from 100MHz to 200MHz MSO5000-BW1T3 - Bandwidth upgrade from 100MHz to 350MHz MSO5000-BW2T3 - Bandwidth upgrade from 200MHz to 350MHz
