Updated Review: Had some issues with my scope, but Tequipment took care of my problems. They always have the best prices on equipment and they excel in after sale service as well.
Initial review: This is a nice MSO, no doubt about it with a ton of features. The one thing missing is the ability to move the trigger point on the screen. (yes, it can be scrolled, but that moves when you change the timebase). Every other decent DSO I've used has that. Got the serial analysis free with purchase. Found that Rigol gives away all expansion features with the MSO now, but since I purchased this model early, I'm not eligible and can't get any credit for the expansions I own if I want to purchase the full package. I won't buy another Rigol. 05/08/20

Rigol MSO1104Z is remarkable price/performance point

As a product designer (EE) for Tektronix for more than two decades, I am truly impressed with what Rigol is able to offer for the money. Quality is impressive at this price level.
This 'scope is very well thought out and very capable within its 100MHz bandwidth limit.
However, be careful to note that the passive probes
have poor impedance parameters above 10MHz.
Too bad Rigol can't pull off the same price/performance
point for a 100MHz active probe.
TEquipment did a great job with a simple order process and fast delivery.

Nice compact scope!

This scope is great for my uses which include monitoring analog and digital signals. I use I2C and SPI interfaces a lot and this scope does a great job of decoding these serial interfaces for me.
The display has great resolutions and the update rate is sufficient.
I'm using this scope to debug firmware on an ESP8266 for an at-home IoT project and am very please with it.
A few things I wish it came with:
a) horizontal zoom based on trigger location or center of display.
b) horizontal zoom fine controls. It is only equipted with coarse controls.
c) gain control for horizontal position when zoomed in. The time control is very touchy when zoom is activated.
d) a dust cover.
These features mentioned above would only add to the usability of this scope, in my opinion and based on the applications I used it for.

This oscilloscope offers the best value period. I looked and was not able to find a better scope at this price.
I wish that I had purchased one a year or two earlier, this is a real time saver on the bench. I use it for RF measurements primarily, and it shows me at once, everything that I need to know about the waveform.
The fact that Rigol chose to offer the complete software bundle included free, was the final deciding factor in my purchasing it. I only wish they offered the same with their low end spectrum analyzers.
This scope is a pleasure to use. Do not be intimidated by all the features and controls. Rigol did a great job with the built in help function.

With the recent release of Rigol MSO5000 line, the now reduced-priced MSO1100 with all factory options enabled is a fantastic deal! I'm able to buy a faster scope with protocol analysis tools without 'hacking' the firmware and voiding the warranty. This will be my first scope order in 20 years, I've been using my old Tek 2211 for almost 28 years. Now I have 2 MSO1104Z, one for work and one for personal lab.

The good people at Rigol have put together an awesome piece of test gear at a price that is nice.
I can't believe that you can get this much scope for so little money, It is packed full of useful features and functions. I really like the fact that the software bundle is included. The software bundle really adds to the overall value and usefulness. I wish that Rigol would do this with all of their products, especially their entry level spectrum analyzers.
So much information about each waveform is right at your fingertips. There is a learning curve, I came from analog oscilloscopes, so this will take a little more effort to learn the many measurements and capabilities, but so far, I am blown away with its many useful tools.
I did a lot of research before purchasing, and there is nothing that even comes close to Rigol for what you get for your money.
I will update my review once I have had a chance to learn some of the more advanced features.

This is hands-down the best value in oscilloscopes right now. It is packed with features and they work well. I didn't realize that it didn't have a separate trigger input but I still think it's a great scope. I guess they expect you to use one of the inputs for an external trigger. If I had to do it again, this is the scope I'd buy.

After many years of faithful service my Tek 7834 died and I decided to replace rather than repair. I wanted to keep the price below $1k and this scope fit that but adding the options I wanted pushed it up over $1150. So I held off buying and looked at Hantek and others. But along came a sale $100 off and all options included free and I jumped on it. Glad I did.
Scope arrived well packaged with no damage. Turned on and passed self test right away. I found the controls and menus intuitive and (unlike what others here wrote) the text large and clear enough for my old eyes. The manual is pretty weak, spending too many pages on basics like how to plug it in and not enough on the scope's advanced features. And it's somewhat in "Engrish".
One feature I thought the scope had but turns out it does not: a vertical channel output jack. I do a lot of audio work and had my old scope's output connected to an amp and speaker. Can't do that with this one. I thought that was included but apparently not or maybe only on the higher priced models.

Scope arrived with theback cover loose. The upper screws were removed and trapped under the handle. I was concerned that it was some kind of return, but after replacing the screws, the scope seems to work well. I was a little disappointed that the "free" serial decoder/trigger option, included with the purchase didn't include triggering. Not sure how useful the free option will be without triggering.

This scope has a farily intuitive interface, which is not always a given when buying Chinese gear. Having spent a lot of time on Tek analog/CRT storage scopes and HP digital scopes, it was a quick transition to using the Rigol for most basic measurement and troubleshooting needs. You'll wind up in the user manual soon enough, but you should be able to start using it out of the box for most basic things, which is nice. I liked not having to order probes and cables right away, because it came with enough to start using it. The only thing I feel nickle and dimed on is the software crippling of features to try and get a few more bucks out of me. WAY too many small things all asking for $ to turn on. The memory is cut in half, many triggering modes expect an upgrade to be able to turn on, etc. It said I had 35 hours of a trial mode left when I turned it on before they all disabled. I also decided to NOT get the signal generator in the scope, since it's not far enough below to the price of buying a separate, stand-alone one I felt I could do more with (and I like the arb func gen I ordered from Rigol too).
All in all, recommended for anyone doing home, hobby, or other work that needs a pretty decent budget priced scope. Controls are more intuitive than the Siglent scopes I compared it to in the same price / capability range. And order the Rigol bag for this scope as well, it's a nice addition, and good enough quality and protection that I think it's worth the price tag.

Finally a scope I can afford that has 4 channel DSA as well as Logic Analyzer capabilities! My only complaints are that the writing is small on-screen for my older eyes (57) and that I'm so used to a Tektronix that getting used to a new menu has been harder than I expected. It's such a capable scope at probably 1/3 the price of a Tektronix of equal capabilities that I can't complain. It was put to use right away and has paid dividends on its first project it tackled for me.

The Rigol MSO1104Z Oscilloscope came complete with all accessories (probes and logic analyzer) and is a nice compact unit that does not take up much bench space. This oscilloscope is affordable, easy to use and has a nice sharp, clear color display. The 16-Channel Logic probe is very useful for design and analysis of embedded microprocessors. The built in square wave oscillator is a handy feature too. This oscilloscope was deliberately ordered without the built-in 2-Channel source oscillator that has somewhat limited functionality, so that a stand alone function generator could be purchased instead.

I was initially leery about buying a Chinese brand scope, but I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised. This thing doesn't feel cheap at all and is packed with features. It feels solid and heavy. Coming from a Tek TDS2014, I realize that the only thing Tek has over Rigol are separate digitizers per channel and a real-time clock, but that's about all. The Rigol's display, decoding abilities, sample memory, and nearly everything else handily beats the Tek, at close to 50% the price. Yes, the Tek doesn't share the sampling bandwidth between channels, but for me this is a fair tradeoff.

Well, after a 1.5 month wait to receive my product(shipping strikes according to Tequipment). I've learned that I have made a huge mistake by using UPS to order this product into Canada and ended up paying $299.00CAN in shipping and duty fees from Tequipment/UPS what a con! Actual duty on this product is $76.00CAN! I wanted to return it but Tequipment quoted their policy saying it's on me and they will charge additional shipping before refunding me.
The good news, this is a solid scope. It worked well out of the box and all accessories were present. The display is very clear. The build quality is excellent for the base price. I recommend this scope if you can get it without getting burned.
Tequipment Response: We recommend USPS to avoid a lot of the fees that UPS and the Canadian gov charges.
