Excellent Value!
5.0
I am a retired Systems Engineer who has been using scopes since the 1960's, and have more scopes at home than any reasonable person needs. Tek 2213, 2245A, 2645, 7603, 475....Not counting the old Dumonts and HP's I've sold off. These of course are all analog, but I'm an old guy who's partial to analog scopes. However, one of my 2245A's recently developed a need for a minor repair that will require a DSO; besides, I've been kind of looking for an excuse to buy one for some time. This purchase gives me great DSO capability for my needs, and still provides the analog inputs for the audio work I do. I chose it after reading a LOT of reviews, and based on past experience, can't imagine buying test equipment from anyone else but Tequipment. They have consistently been lowest or second lowest price, have excellent customer service, and lightning-fast shipping; I rarely look elsewhere. What "tripped the trigger" into placing this order was that the original quote had additional costs for the waveform record/replay, expanded memory, serial bus analysis, and advanced triggering options totaling ~$700. That made me decide not to buy it now, since I really wanted all of those, but it was getting a little pricey. However, I looked back at the website a few days later and found they had added all 4 options into the base price! WOW! Seventeen hundred bucks worth of scope and options for $999! And the built-in two-channel function generator eliminates another piece of equipment on the bench, or prevents having to carry one along if you have to work away away from the bench. Sold!
So far I have only used the analog and signal source functions, and I'm impressed! This thing is very intuitive, with nice control feel and crisp display. Not at all what many automatically call "cheap Chinese junk" when it says "made in China" on the back. Very nice quality; nothing about it feels cheap. In fact, my Tek 2245 feels "cheaper" than this scope in use. And it is nice and compact. Can't wait to have time to dig into some applications that require the logic analyzer functions.
Summary: GREAT buy for the money; excellent quality, highly recommended. Only thing that would make it even better would be if they included a real manual with it. The "quick start" guide is simply inadequate. The manual available on line is very good, but when you print out 234 pages, it's a little cumbersome.

This is hands-down my favorite oscilloscope. The ability to fanout to 16 channels for serial decoding is a dream. Economically priced, very good features, I am quite pleased with Rigol's line.

Good value but has issues...
3.0
Still in my first couple of months of use... This is a good value scope with lots of features. The basic operations seem to work, however, there are some issues I've found so far.
There is a problem with some display items in that the text color cannot be changed. For example, white signal labels displayed against a white trace. When the screen trace gets crowded, the labels are unreadable. The decoding feature for serial/SPI/I2C also has similar problems with white text displayed on a light gray background -- unreadable!
The logic analyzer function has no remote display capability with the current software. You may only remotely display the analog inputs. This was verified by Rigol support. The remote software, as limited as it is, also requires nearly 1 GB of space to install!

MSO1104Z-S
5.0
I used this for debugging I2C/SPI communications in a multi-DDS QRP radio, so hobby use.
It performs well, nothing stands out that is really annoying. It does its job. The previous scopes were a TDS220 and a HP DSO3062A. The decodes worked. Came with the software license bundle.
Used with DM3058E 5.5 digit DMM, DG1032Z Signal Generator, DSA815/TG Spectrum Analyzer, HP 8753 Network Analyzer, HP 70K modular SA system.

Nice, versitile scope
5.0
Nice, easy-to-use, oscilloscope. It contains many features that cost much extra on other scopes. The control software is a bit primitive, but does the job - communications between scope and a PC is very useful. The onboard generator aids in reducing the amount of equipment I must bring to the field.

Rigol MSO1104Z-S
5.0
I'm a hobbyist and needed a replacement scope because my TDS-220 died, after doing my research I settled on the Rigol MSO1104Z-S which I ordered here and am glad I did. This is the second piece of equipment from TEquipment and in both cases I received the very quickly and in excellent shape at a good price. As far as the scope is concerned it is an excellent piece of equipment and light years ahead of my old now dead TDS-220 and having 4 traces is icing on top of the cake. I'm seeing so much more information now than i ever have with old unit. I'm in the market for a new function generator which I will definitely buy at TEquipment but I must first get past the holiday bills. LOL.
Equipment, thanks for the great experience you guys are top notch.

Rigol MSO1104Z-S Mixed Signal Oscilloscope
4.0
The Rigol MSO1104Z-S Mixed Signal Oscilloscope with Arbitrary Waveform Generator is at the top of the low-end oscilloscopes offered by Rigol. This 4-input scope also contains a two channel arbitrary waveform generator along with a trigger/error output BNC connectors on the back of the scope. In addition to the analog inputs this mixed-signal scope has a socket on the front for a 16 channel Logic Analyzer (LA). The LA adapter is included along with numbered signal leads for all 16 channels and 16 ground leads. The leads are terminated with female header connectors which can be connected directly to standard circuit board header pins of can be attached to gripper probes provided for all 32 leads.
This scope has a standard bandwidth of 100MHz, an analog sampling rate of 1GS/s, a 30,000 sample buffer and 12MB of waveform storage upgradable to 24MB.
Unlike the venerable analog scopes of which you may be familiar, many, if not most of the functions are not controlled by switches and knobs but by a menu system accessed through buttons on the right side of the scope and also soft buttons flanking either side of the 7" 800 X 480 pixel display screen. Unfortunately, the screen itself is not a touch screen and I found myself touching the screen rather than the associated button! The menu items on the boundary of the screen cannot be switched off, stealing precious screen real estate which might have been used to display more of the four waveforms.
The 100MHz bandwidth is shared among the 4 analog and 16 digital channels. If two analog channels are used, they get 50MHz each, if 3 or 4 are used, they each are assigned only 25MHz. The Logic Analyzer uses 25MHz of bandwidth for each group of 8 channels. So if all four analog channels are being used, Channel 4 is switched off for digital channels 0 through 7 and analog Channel 3 is switched off for digital channels 8 through 15.
One of the great advantages of a mixed mode oscilloscope is that triggering can be set for both the analog and digital channels allowing the user to, for example, see the state of the digital lines when an analog condition triggers the scope. In one-shot mode, the display will show the waveforms at the moment of triggering and the 30,000 waveform points allows the user to scroll through the samples to observe the areas of interest and both analog and digital waveforms will be synchronized.
There are too many triggering and analog functions to mention here but one of the "Math" Functions is a Fast Fourier Transform so the scope can be used as a rudimentary Spectrum Analyzer.
The scope also provides an X-Y display mode where one channel controls the horizontal axis while the other provides the vertical axis. The resulting Lissajous pattern is ideal for displaying phase differences between the two signals in a way not easy to see in the standard time-domain presentation.
The arbitrary waveform generators allow the user to analyze passive circuits by running the output waveforms through, say, a filter and then running the output of the filter into one of the analog channels. There is a procedure for normalizing the signal path through the cabling so that the analysis can be as accurate as possible.
I purchased this particular oscilloscope because it combined all the functions I would need for my work without having to buy an Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, and Waveform Generator separately. The single unit is not as flexible as three individual pieces of equipment but for the price you get a lot of functionality.
In conclusion, I believe I got good value for my money and I highly recommend this very capable oscilloscope.

Lots of functionality!
4.0
This is a nice, compact scope with a lot of functions for what you pay for. The user interface is easy and fairly ergonomic. Some data entry is a little finicky but nothing major or bothersome. Performance of the cope is good though it is a bit more noisy than I had hoped - in part due to the probes which are somewhat cheap production quality. But even with that, no complaints and no regrets.

Rigol MSO1104Z-S Mixed Signal Oscilloscope
5.0
This oscilloscope is very well constructed, menus are well laid out with a good logical flow, very clear / bright display, and offers a large array of options / functions that most do not. I found this brand after many hours of hard research comparing every one on the market and these could not be beat for all they offered. I have personally compared this model to other similar much higher priced bigger names and all the side by side tests were very comparable with some features that others did not offer. I would highly recommend this unit / brand for every use from hobbyist to professional.

Amazing value for hobbyists
5.0
Rigol has dominated the low end for oscilloscopes, with tons of features and quality construction for mere hundreds of dollars. When it came time for me to upgrade my scope, it was an easy choice to step up to a nicer Rigol, and I'm not disappointed. As a hobbyist, this is probably more than I need, but I'm having a great time building test circuits and exploring the scope's features. If this is your first scope, strongly consider the DS1000 series, but the MSO1000's are a great value as well.

solid choice
5.0
I've only used the basic features so far, doing simple measurements with the analog capabilities but using the four channels simultaneously. Things are reasonably intuitive. The unit was well packed and has a good solid feel to it - there's nothing cheap about it. It's obvious it's a Chinese company from the instructions but the information is there. I'm really pleased so far with this scope and with Rigol overall. When I bought this scope I also bought a dc power supply and bench multimeter, and those have also proven to be solid quality tools.

Really impressed with this equipment so far
5.0
I got this for a specific task out of the office because it was portable and inexpensive - we've got a couple of CRT scopes here and some software scopes that display on a computer, but nothing portable. I ended up not using it on the job, but I'm glad I bought it. I wanted the 70 MHz but they were out of stock so I got the 100 MHz since I wanted the signal source as well. The unit just works. I love the display, I need to get used to the control vs. traditional scopes with dedicated knobs for everything but I have no trouble working things without the manual handy once I figured out how things are generally done.
When you unpack the scope it feels well built and solid. Everything you need is in the box - 4 probes for the 4 analog inputs, logic probe, even 2 BNC->BNC cables for the signal generators! Haven't had a chance to try the software yet or connect it to the network, though.
All in all very happy with the purchase.

Greqt Product

My scope arrived on time and I could hardly wait to open the box. I expected to see some sort of cheap Chinese knock-off of a Tek scope but as soon as I picked it up and felt it's weight and looked it over I knew that was not going to be the case.
I immediately plugged it in and hooked up the logic probe to the circuit I was working on. I was having trouble getting an AD9850 DDS chip to respond so I hooked the digital inputs up to the logic probe and the analog outputs up to one of the analog probes. Wow . . what a great experience. Within about ten minutes I had the circuit working perfectly.
Since that time I have used pretty much every feature of the scope and found nothing I do not like. I purchased the serial decoding option the next day and am seriously thing of getting the trigger option as soo as I get some spare cash. Don't even hesitate: this scope is a rare treasure. I still can't believe how well it functions and how high the quality is.

Great Scope
5.0
The scope is really great, I haven't tried the logic analyzer or signal generator yet. All of the controls are easy to use and fairly intuitive. The signal quality is great and the oversampling comes in handy when looking for detail in the time domain. Triggering options are great and work very well. The four channels really come in handy when trying to diagnose a complicated feed back loop. It works well and is very capable for modest applications.

Great Scope
5.0
I'd looked for a long time for a scope. Rigol has a very good name in scopes. To get what I wanted I was going to have to spend 2X as much in the other brands. So after comparing reviews of these brands, I choose the Rigol MSO 1104Z-S. I got more scope than I was looking for which means I can grow into this scope & it'll be a lot longer before I need to upgrade to a more sophisticated scope.
The MSO1104Z-S does everything but make your 1st cup of coffee in the mornings & dinner reservations for you after work! It hasn't found me a date to go with the dinner reservations ..... But I'm confident it will real soon......It's sending me signals that it's about too any day now!

Rigol MSO1104Z
5.0
Well it was time to replace, well augment, the trusty Tek TDS220 scope that was purchased new many, many years ago. After much research and many you tube videos the Rigol was selected. It had the same bandwidth, 2 more channels, a logic analyzer and two signal sources and is color. Plus an unbelievable set of analysis tools. The useable screen is about the same as the Tek since it has fixed menus left and right but its performance is well above the Tek. The capture feature and the decode features are excellent but now I've got to pitch in a few more bucks and make these options permanent. The Tek is dead quiet since it doesn't have a fan where the Rigol has a noticeable fan. The Rigol takes a bit longer to come alive but not a problem. Still getting familiar with controls and new features but I see many great hours ahead. Delivery from TEquipment.net was spot on and their price was very competitive. Overall it is a great scope for the cost and I believe will give me many happy years as has the Tek.

Exceptional scope for the money
5.0
I ordered this scope based strictly on its written specs and the fact that it combined multiple functions, e.g., logic analyzer with cross triggering and signal generator. I must say that actually using not only confirmed the specs but left with the question of how you can all of this for the price.
The only negative, which also applies to the other Rigol equipment I ordered, is the fan noise. I wonder why the company can engineer such good equipment but neglect the cooling system requirements.
