TEquipment carries a variety of thermal imagers for measuring temperature in humans. Although these cameras are handheld and portable, they also accept standard tripod mounts. This provides the versatility of on-the-go screening throughout a facility, or setting up a temporary station at a building’s entrance. To select a thermal imager for human screening, here are a few factors to consider:
Thermal resolution refers to how many individual temperature points the camera will measure at a given time. This number is obtained by multiplying the height and width of the sensor size. For example, the FLIR E54-EST has a sensor size of 320 x 240. Therefore, it will simultaneously measure 76,800 individual temperature points. These are color coded according to temperature, which then form a thermal image. Why does thermal resolution matter? Many cameras use the tear duct as a measurement point. A high resolution is necessary to measure something that small from several feet away. It is also important to select a product from a known and established manufacturer – there are now products on the market from companies that didn’t exist a year ago. They are low dollar, low resolution devices sold with impossible claims of accuracy and measuring distance. You will not find products like this on TEquipment.
FLIR has been a leader in thermal imaging for decades and offers a full line of cameras specifically designed for human temperature measurement. Their EST series is available in several styles, with a variety of lenses, form factors and thermal resolutions. These devices are also FDA registered. These cameras feature a built in screen and can also output content to an external monitor. The FLIR software provides easy to follow, color coded results so the testing process is both fast and easy. In addition, these cameras can be either tripod mounted or held by hand. The thermal resolutions for these are listed below. The E54-EST is the most popular product in this series and is suitable for many different scenarios.
