The Oakton WD-00653-27 conductivity calibration solution is an aqueous electrolyte solution for calibrating electrodes and conductivity meters and has a conductivity value of 2,070 microsiemens/cm with + or – 1% accuracy at 25 degrees C. The solution is standardized against National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)-traceable references for quality control. It is labeled with the name and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number for all ingredients for safety and to conform to "Right-to-Know" requirements. It comes in a one-pint bottle. Conductivity calibration solutions are used to confirm and adjust the accuracy of meters and electrodes in agricultural, industrial, or scientific environments. A calibration solution is used to calibrate instrumentation for accuracy in aquaculture, hydroponics, water-testing, and scientific applications. It is necessary to use a calibration solution similar in dissolved solids content to the solution to be tested to get acceptable accuracies. Calibration solution should be at the same temperature as the test solution to minimize temperature effect errors. Conductivity is the ability of a material or solution to conduct an electrical current. TDS standards in ppm KCl, NaCl, and 442 conversions are also printed on the bottle for ease of use. Temperature corrections are printed on the bottle, with the certified values listed in the tables, accurate to within ±1%, and are referenced to 25°C.
