The TruView and Visual Performance Manager 100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ASE enhances the analysis functionality of Ethernet networks. The Analysis Service Element (ASE) provides up to 1000 Mbps of detailed network traffic analysis and management, while maintaining full wire speed pass-through of all traffic. It supports IP transport monitoring IP convergence of bandwidth, applications, burst, and VoIP data traffic.
The Ethernet ASE is deployed on the LAN or WAN side of the customer edge router for flexible deployment options. The high speed ASE is designed to display traffic to or from the WAN and ignore local LAN traffic (such as between a client and an Internet or application server), allowing for segmentation troubleshooting between the network and the applications at the data center. Optional installation services are available on this high-speed hardware ASE.

NetFlow export probe
An ASE is designed to analyze IP packets flowing across a Ethernet Link. The unit can be installed inline between two Ethernet devices. The ASE normally stores observations for later download to the VPM server or TruView appliance while always providing continuos monitoring of the network in real time. However, the device can also export observations via NetFlow version 9 to any collector desired.
What are ASEs?
ASEs (Analysis Service Elements) are data collection and network performance monitoring hardware devices placed on a wide area network (WAN) or Local Area Network (LAN) as part of the TruView and Visual Performance Manager systems. ASEs offer in-depth, real-time, and historical visibility into the performance of an applications infrastructure. Data gathered by ASEs is stored in the VPM server and displayed and analyzed from the Web portal interface. As a service level management tool, ASEs indicate when services are being met, provide warnings when services start to degrade, and send alerts when services are not met.
