The AE2000MET is an inverted metallurgical microscope, designed for the examination of large samples, such as minerals, metals, and precision molds. Commonly used for materials research and quality control/failure analysis, the AE2000MET is found throughout all areas of industry – aerospace, automobile manufacturing, and many more.
Illumination is provided by a 12v/50w Halogen lamp, and will support bright field, dark field and polarizing modes of observation. The lamp also features an intensity control knob so that users can easily adjust the light’s strength. Furthermore, the AE2000MET features a built in sleep function, where the lamp turns itself off following fifteen minutes of inactivity.
There are two styles of compatible objectives for the AE2000MET. First are the LM Plan BD, which can be used for both bright field and dark field work, and are available in magnifications of 5x, 10x, 20x and 50x. Second are the LM Plan, which are long working distance metallurgical objectives, used only for bright field. These are available in 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x and 100x.
The AE2000MET is a trinocular microscope, designed to document research with an SLR or digital camera. For those wishing to use their own camera, Motic offers a full line of adapters. In addition, they also manufacture their own line of cameras – the Moticam. The Moticam is available in several different formats, from standard 1.3MP to highly advanced, research grade systems. These cameras are very easy to use and make documentation as simple as possible.
