The Metcal PS-900 soldering system is a powerful, cost-effective soldering system with a small benchtop footprint. The PS-900 provides exceptional thermal control and enables operators to produce high quality, repeatable solder connections with exceptional speed. The PS-900 is designed for lead-free soldering, multilayer boards, and thermally demanding components. With SmartHeat technology, the PS-900 can solder at lower temperatures, even in demanding lead-free soldering processes. Operators using the PS-900 are more productive, and materials are safe from temperatures that can damage other components. The PS-900 System is comprised of an induction coil assembly and a heater tip. Each heater tip is equipped with a self-regulating heater which 'senses' its own temperature and tightly maintains its pre-set idle temperature for the life of the heater-tip; all controlled by Metcal's proprietary SmartHeat technology. The tip temperature is determined by the inherent metallurgical properties of the heater; no external adjustment or equipment is required. The power delivered to the tip automatically varies in direct response to the thermal load. This eliminates spikes and transients associated with electrically switched elements found in conventional soldering irons. The PS-900 with SmartHeat is easy to use, eliminates calibration time, and requires very little maintenance. In addition, its soldering tips are designed for a long life which reduces overall operating costs. The Metcal PS-900 is the best choice for small or large production environments that need exceptional performance from a unit with a small footprint.

For each one, the identifier is the second letter, either T, F or C. Each group has a different maximum temperature. The maximum temperatures are as follows: • T = 690° F • F = 790° F • C = 880° F

The PS-900 comes with the PS-HC3 handpiece. This uses SxV and CxP tips, (Links to each are in the description section) • SxV soldering tips • STV - For temperature sensitive applications • SFV - FR4/Fiberglass for most standard applications • SCV - Ceramic for high thermal demand applications • CxV blade tips
