Feels much hotter than it is
5.0
I got to play with a JBC desoldering station that my brother owns about a year ago and have been thinking about it since. More recently I've been doing a bunch of prototyping with surface mount components so I decided to bite the bullet and get this. It solders easily even for heavy ground plane stuff, as if it's running a lot hotter because of tip control. If I was going to buy a soldering iron again, I would definitely get a jbc one, but I might select a model without included tips and order different ones.

great station, minor flaw with the pencil holder
JBC makes great stations and this one isn't any different. Great build. Even the two solder tips come in two nice very solid plastic containers. You do pay a slight premium in price for JBC but it works. Heat up is near instant which is jawdropping fast. Only one minor flaw with this station. The pencil has a "anti-slip" grip thats slipped on by default. If you were to fully push the pencil into the holder. It'll fail to recognize the tool to hibernate/sleep because the grip ends up gapping the pencil from touching the holder evenly on all sides. If you pull the pencil out/don't push it in all the way so that the pencil's metal parts(tip, metal ring on pencil) are touching the holder, the station can detect it to sleep.
