GWInstek provides product purchasers with a limited lifetime warranty for specified digital storage oscilloscope series. For more information about the details and limitations of the Limited Lifetime Warranty policy, please read the following content s .

FAQ's    

Limited Lifetime Warranty Clauses

1. In order to be eligible for GWInstek's Limited Lifetime Warranty, product registration must be completed by the purchaser. The warranty of the purchased product is activated from the completion date of the product registration at GWInstek or from an authorized distributor. GWInstek reserves the right to determine the eligibility of the product registration if the registration process is delayed by the purchaser for more than three months after the original purchase date. Satisfactory proof is required to claim the warranty; for example, the invoice from the initial purchase.

2. Validation of the Limited Lifetime Warranty is effective starting from the first day of purchase (please refer to the “ Limited Lifetime Warranty Definition ” section ).

3. The Limited Lifetime Warranty is for the original purchaser only. In the event of a sale or product transfer by the original purchaser to a third party, the warranty period shall be three (3) years from the date of purchase of the product by the original purchaser from GWInstek or its authorized distributors.

4. If the product is operated under a normal operating environment during the warranty period and a malfunction is not caused by external or internal self-assembly, GWInstek reserves the right to exchange components, repair, or substitute the appropriate types of products at its discretion.

5. All replaced parts will be brand new parts or recycled parts in mind conditions. They belong to and will be held by GWInstek. These can include but are not limited to; new components, modules, or substitute products for repairing.

6. When the product has exceeded the warranty period, warranty clauses, or is otherwise inapplicable to warranty ( please refer to the “After the Limited Lifetime Warranty” section), maintenance service, replacem e nt, shipment, and any other related charges might occur.

Limited Lifetime Warranty Definition

Limited Lifetime Warranty is defined as starting from the date of product registration by an original purchaser from GWInstek or from an authorized distributor. The Limited Lifetime

Warranty is terminated at the period ending five (5) years after GWInstek discontinues manufacturing the warranted products. Discontinuance of the manufactured product will be properly announced by GWInstek.

The Ambit of Limited Lifetime Warranty

Only the following GWInstek product models are qualified to be covered by the Limited Lifetime Warranty; GDS-1000 and GDS-2000 series digital storage oscilloscopes which are registered and meet the requirements described in this document, especially the “Limited Lifetime Warranty Definition” section . GWInstek provides the Limited Lifetime Warranty to original purchasers only .

Other Exception Clauses

GWInstek guarantees its products against defects in materials and workmanship under limited conditions. However, under the following exceptions, GWInstek has no liability to provide warranty services for the repair or maintenance without charge.

1. Deficiency resulting from shipping.

2. Damages caused by accidental events, damages due to the human force or self-assembly, damages caused by negligence of maintenance or modification behaviors without authorized technical support.

3. Damages resulting from any natural disaster.

4. The appearance of a product due to dust, dirt and age, normal wear of mechanical components and accessories outside of the product itself; not limited to but including electrical wires and testing probes.

5. The LCD is covered by the limited warranty for one year ; for the battery, three months .

6. Products or its components exceeding the Limited Lifetime Warranty or normal warranty period.

Requirements for the Feasance of the Limited Lifetime Warranty

In order to be feasible to obtain repair or maintenance service under the Limited Lifetime Warranty, the product must meet the requirements described in this document, and most importantly the original distributor (representative) becomes the service center. The details are as follows.

During t he Limited Lifetime Warranty Period

1. Purchasers are responsible to pack the repair product in good condition and ship it to the original distributor /representative . Shipping charges must be paid by the sender.

2. If repair services are requested to the original distributor /representative , then the original distributor /representative will pay for the return shipping charge back to supported locations. However, if shipping is requested to specific locations other than supported locations, the purchasers must be responsible for any shipping charges, tax charges and any other additional charges.

3. If repair services are requested to a non- original distributor /representative , the service should be treated as exceeding the warranty period. Hence, the product owner is responsible for the round shipping cost, repair charges, potential taxes, and any possible expenditures.

After the Limited Lifetime Warranty Period

If the received products have exceeded the warranty time period or the lifetime warranty, GWInstek will still provide the related repair and or maintenance services. However, the owners of the products are responsible for the repair and or maintenance charges, the return shipping charges and any additional costs.

No Liability & No Promise Clauses

GWInstek will not be liable for the inevitable, indirect, or supplementary damages of the product purchasers or the third party users that are caused by its product deficiency; for example, loss of profitability, loss of sales investment, loss of business image or enterprise interactional obstacles. In addition, GWInstek has no liability for the deficiency of other apparatus, equipment or facilities caused by the operation of its product.

The above is GWInstek's most complete version of the Limited Lifetime Warranty policy ; these clauses may displace other oral or written versions of warranty policy. Except for the above described product warranty, GWInstek will not provide additional warranty policy other than what is described and claimed in this composition.

1. How long is the period covered by the “Limited Lifetime Warranty”?
ANS: The limited lifetime warranty is valid from the date of original purchase until the end of post-production halt service period (approximately 5 years).
2. Is the limited lifetime warranty applicable to all GWInstek products?
ANS: No. The limited lifetime warranty is applicable only to specified models in the digital oscilloscope series.
3. Which products are eligible for the limited lifetime warranty?
ANS:

GDS-1022/1042/1062/ 1102 in the GDS-1000 series digital oscilloscope

GDS-2062/2064/2102/2104/2202/ 2204 in the GDS-2000 series digital oscilloscope

4. Is the limited lifetime warranty applicable to products purchased earlier?
ANS: In order to be eligible for the limited lifetime warranty, the original date of purchase must be during or later than July 2008.
5. How can I obtain the limited lifetime warranty?
ANS: First, you need to register the product online at the GWInstek website. After reviewing your registration, GWInstek will let you know whether you are entitled to the limited lifetime warranty.
6. If a product is purchased during or later than July 2008 but not being registered yet , is it still eligible for the limited lifetime warranty?
ANS: No. If the product is not b eing registered yet, it is only eligible for the 3-year warranty after the date of purchase.
7. Is there any deadline for the online registration?
ANS:

Taiwan – Within 3 months from the date of purchase.

Countries and regions other than Taiwan – Within 3 months from the date of purchase.

8. What is the deadline for the online registration?
ANS: 3 months after the date of purchase.
9. If a product is still not registered 3 months after the date of purchase, is it completely disqualified from the limited lifetime warranty?
ANS: Yes. In this case, the product will only be eligible for the 3-year warranty after the date of purchase.
10. What is NOT covered by GWInstek's limited lifetime warranty, in terms of hardware?
ANS:

The following items are not covered by the limited lifetime warranty even if the product itself is eligible for it. Warranty period for each item , if available, is listed on the right.

a. LCD – One year after the date of shipment

b. Battery – Three months after the date of shipment

c. Other accessories (power cord, probe, fuse, etc) – No warranty

d. Appearance of the product (handle, stand, etc), mechanical wear (knob, button, BNC terminal, etc) – No warranty

e. Product s for which the limited lifetime warranty is expired – No warranty

11. What is NOT covered by GWInstek's limited lifetime warranty, in terms of usage?
ANS:

The following items are not covered by the limited lifetime warranty even if the product itself is eligible for it. Warranty period for each item , if available, is listed on the right.

a. Damage du e to inappropriate transportation – No warranty

b. Damage due to accident, inappropriate usage/installation, unauthorized parts replacement – No warranty

c. Damage due to natural disaster – No warranty

d. Aging of the appearance (color change, dirt , etc ) – No warranty

12. What should I do if the product becomes defective during the warranty period?
ANS: Please contact the original retailer (distributer) where you purchased the product.
13. Can a non-original distributor provide the limited lifetime warranty support? What do I need to pay in that case?
ANS:

Only original distributors can provide the limited lifetime warranty support. Therefore in this case, out-of-warranty support will be provided. You need to pay for the following items.

a. Shipping cost from your starting location to the non original distributor

b. The shipping charge from the non original distributor back to your location

c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc).

14. Do I have to pay for the transportation of product if it becomes defective during the warranty period?
ANS: Yes. Y ou have to pay at least for the shipping cost from your starting location to the original purchased distributers i f the product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, and also bec a me defective under normal usage
15. If the product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, do you use only new parts fo r repair?
ANS: It depends. The parts and assemblies used in repair can be either new parts or repaired parts in mint condition.
16. If a problem NOT covered by the limited lifetime warranty occurs (listed in FAQ number 1 0 and 1 1 ) , do I have to pay for the repair service ?
ANS:

Yes. If a product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, but the problem falls into the scope of FAQ No.10 and No.11, you have to pay for the following items:

a. Shipping cost from your starting location to the original distributor

b. The shipping charge from the original distributor back to your location

c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc).

17. After the product is repaired, can the product be shipped to a specific address from the original distributor ?
ANS: Yes . If the return shipping address is different from the original address, the entire shipping cost to the assigned address should be handled by the customers.
18. After a product is repaired, will the limited lifetime warranty period be recalculated?
ANS: : No. The limited lifetime warranty period is still calculated from the original date of purchase, regardless of what happen s after then .
19. After the limited lifetime warranty period expires , i s there any way to r epair the product ?
ANS: It depends. You can send your products directly to GWInstek or a distributer/representative authorized by GWInstek for repair . However, GWInstek possesses the right to decide whether to repair the product.
20. If I ask for a service support after the limited lifetime warranty is expired, what do I need to pay for ?
ANS:

You need to pay for the following items.

a. Shipping cost to from your starting location to the original distributor

b. The shipping charge from the original distributor back to your location

c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc).

21. Is the limited lifetime warranty applicable for secondary purchasers?
ANS: No, the limited lifetime warranty is only applicable for the original purchaser.
