The PFR-100 series is a small form factor high-performance DC power supply. The natural convection design allows for a fanless case and a quiet working environment. Additionally, the internals of fanless power supplies remain cleaner as they do not suck in dust and foreign objects.

The power supplies in the PFR-100 series are rated at 100 watts maximum, however the voltage and current ratings combine to five times that amount to allow for a wider range of settings; the power supplies will not output more than 100 watts. The PFR-100L has a maximum output voltage of 50V at 2A or a maximum output current of 10A at 10V, while the PFR-100M has a maximum output voltage of 250V at 0.4A or a maximum output current of 2A at 50V.

Front and rear output terminals provide flexibility for use in both benchtop and rackmount scenarios. The multi-drop mode allows the control of 31 PFR-100 series units without using a switch, reducing cost and complexity. A built-in web server facilitates connection via a web browser (IE, Firefox, etc.) to remotely monitor and adjust operating PFR-100 units.

The PFR-100 series has features to meet a variety of testing requirements. The CC (constant current) priority mode can protect DUTs (device under test) with diodes from getting damaged by inrush current. A slow rise time for voltage can also protect from inrush current. The bleeder circuit control will rapidly discharge a filter capacitor when the power is off or the load is disconnected.

See the table below for the different models in the PFR-100 series. All power supplies output a maximum of 100 watts. They differ in voltage and current ranges. Models with and without GPIB are available.

Under diode load, conventional power supplies operating in CV priority mode will product inrush current and surge voltage when turned on. The PFR-100 Series has CV and CC priority modes. The CC priority mode can prevent inrush current and surge voltage to protect the DUT.

Under the conventional CV mode, inrush current and surge voltage appeared at the forward voltage (Vf) of the LED.

Under CC priority mode, inrush and surge voltage are effectively restrained.

The PFR-100 series can adjust slew rate for current and voltage. By setting the rise and fall time of voltage and current, users can verify a DUT's characteristics during voltage and current variation. Additionally, slew rate adjustment can mitigate voltage shift to effectively prevent the DUT from being damaged by inrush current. This function is ideal for capacitive load and motor tests.

Using web browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox or Android phones, users can monitor and configure an operating PFR-100 anywhere.

Outputs that can be monitored include OVP, OCP, and UVL. Information such as serial number, firmware edition, and internet settings can be checked as well.

Settings such as output voltage and current, slew rate, bleed circuit control, OCP, delayed time for output voltage, and buzzer can also be adjusted.

The PFR-100 series power supply has a bleeder circuit control placed in parallel with the output terminal. When power is off or the load is disconnected, the bleed resistor will consume electricity from the filter capacitor. Without a bleed resistor, the power filter capacitor could still be charged with potentially danger energy. In addition, for automated test equipment systems, the bleed resistor allows the PFR-100 series to bleed current rapidly to prepare itself for the next operation.

Provides USB, GPIB (select models), LAN, RS-232, and RS-485 interfaces for a PC to remotely control a primary PFR-100. The RJ-45 connectors on the rear panels can link together up to 31 units. The control of secondary units by use of the multi-drop mode eliminates the need for a costly switch or hub.
