The 3246 has two outstanding features in comparison to other pencil-type testers. One is a penlight that brightly illuminates the tip of the lead probe built into the main unit, enabling measurement even in dim locations, and the other is a new backlit LCD that makes it easy to read measurement results. Further, the 3246 is the world's first pencil-type tester to meet CAT III 600 V safety standards. It uses circuit protection elements that make fuses unnecessary, and provides guaranteed protection up to 600 V for all functions.
