Penlight DMM
The 3246 has two outstanding features in comparison to other pencil-type testers. One is a penlight that brightly illuminates the tip of the lead probe built into the main unit, enabling measurement even in dim locations, and the other is a new backlit LCD that makes it easy to read measurement results. Further, the 3246 is the world's first pencil-type tester to meet CAT III 600 V safety standards. It uses circuit protection elements that make fuses unnecessary, and provides guaranteed protection up to 600 V for all functions. As a result, this single unit can be used for a number of different applications, from checking weak currents on populated compact circuit boards where it is difficult to see the printing, to checking dangerous power lines. In addition to checking the voltage, resistance and conductivity of both AC and DC power lines, the 3246 comes equipped with a new forward direction diode checking function. The cord of the black lead probe can be wound up and stored in the rear of the unit, and because the protective cap guards against damage to the tip of the lead probe, you can transport the 3246 even without using a special case. All settings can be made by single-handed operation. This, along with the 3246's refined design, makes this pencil-type tester ideal for use in a variety of situations.
Besides being highly portable, the single-handed operability, attractive design, and shirt-pocket size make pencil-type testers a favorite for use in hobbies and general household testing of electrical appliances. However, the proliferation of electrical devices has led to a growing demand for units that are both easy to use and safe. In order to meet this need, the 3246 PENCIL HiTESTER provides not only a penlight and backlit LCD to allow use in dim locations, but also conforms with CAT III 600 V CE marking requirements and meets international safety standards. This makes the 3246 Pencil HiTester an ideal unit for amateurs and professionals alike.
