The Hioki DT4200 Digital Multimeter Series consist of a complete lineup of 9 models ranging from professional to industrial to pocket meters, delivering a super fast response rate and safety features that take electrical testing to a higher level. The DT4252 is a digital multimeter designed specifically for general purpose testing, with ±0.3% DC V accuracy, direct current input and wide 40 Hz to 1kHz bandwidth. A digital multimeter with extensive measurement capabilities
The DT4252, which is part of Hioki’s DT4250 series of standard digital multimeters, packs a broad range of measurement capability into a single package.
Measure output voltage on the secondary sides of inverters by eliminating harmonic components
Accurately measure the fundamental wave alone by eliminating harmonic components with the DMM’s low-pass filter function. Measurement data can be downloaded to, reviewed on, and saved to a computer. If you connect the DT4252 to a computer with the optional Communication Package DT4900-01, you can graph data stored in the instrument’s internal memory and display measurement results in real time on the computer. In addition, displayed measured values can be saved (in text format).
*The computer and multimeter are electrically isolated by means of optical communications so that data can be sent with peace of mind. True RMS measurement for accurate measurement of even distorted current waveforms
Digital multimeters implement two types of measurement: mean-value measurement and true RMS measurement. The two methods yield significantly different measurement results for current waveforms, which are often distorted. For accurate measurement, it is necessary to use an instrument with true RMS capability. Designed and manufactured in Japan to ensure high quality and guaranteed with a 3-year warranty for peace of mind All development, design, and manufacturing processes for almost all Hioki digital multimeters are carried out at our Head Office in Nagano Prefecture. Some of the industry’s most advanced technological capabilities enable us to deliver products of the highest possible quality. Safe measurement requires use of an instrument that suits the measurement location. To ensure operators’ ability to use measuring instruments safely, IEC 61010 classifies the locations in which instruments are used into a series of safety-based measurement categories (ranging from CAT II to CAT IV). Using an instrument that does not satisfy the required safety level can lead to an electrical accident.

Exudes Quality
5.0
As a hobbyist who has spent time in class with good test equipment, the first thing I noticed about this DMM was how it conveyed that sense of quality. From the case ,to the display to the switch - everything seems well thought out and to have been made to last. Measurements are quick and based on my initial tests, also appear very accurate. Highly recommended....

Solid Entry Level Meter
I was really blown away by the value of this product. This meter can do a lot well. While its diode test function is supports only up to a typically low foward voltage for an entry level meter, it has a 5V open circuit LED function easily able to check the polarity of high Vf LEDs to make up the difference for the most common high Vf meter. It's capacitance range is quite extensive and it offers really high quality measurements for this class, albeit a bit slowly. Other handheld multimeters seem to rush towards noisy, inaccurate measurements particularly for bad contact to a large capacitor; not a problem here.I really like the continuity tester with this meter, and its combination of auditory and visual feedback with he back-light toggle. The gold plated probes seem to also help here quite a bit. Its bar graph seems quite responsive for all measurements. Its display is definitely above average[not saying much] i n the viewing angle department, although the lens seems a bit glare-inviting. It does look very flashy. It has a nice contoured edge for a good grip, and the rubberized sheath offers a very precise fit. Perhaps a bit boxy, but not overly so. It will definitely stand out more than photos give it credit in the design department. It has a nice mini-manual on the inside of the kick-stand. The front panel legends are all silk-screened though, with no apparent emboss, so I am a bit concerned about legibility after years of wear. That said, after almost a year of use, no signs of wear on this meter at all.Overall, this is a really solid meter in this class, and makes me wonder why Hioki aren't more renowned in the US market. I just wish they offered midrange meters more suited for precise current measurements and better diode characterization at a lower point, since this is really a steal.
