Before you start your sessions of measuring, you should always zero-out our system (like hitting "tare" on a scale). This makes sure you do not have any wire resistance influencing your measurements. If you have alligator clips, it''s easy. Just hook them together and press the "zero" button. However, with pin leads, it''s more difficult. So the board is used to simplify the process and make sure you are getting good contacts before you zero out your wires.
