Glad you still had this part available. I have four Hakko 808's to keep maintained.

You'll eventually need these, so just get them now

If you're purchasing a Hakko FR-300, save on shipping and get a few extra filters. The FR-300 is a great tool, but like any desoldering iron it only works as well as you care for it.

Better
5.0
One of the bad parts about the 808 is how quickly the filters need changing. Most users develop a technique for peeling the filter(like an onion)...for extended life. These filters are actually slightly thicker. So, you get more "peels"and longer life

Too bad they are so expensive...
4.0
You gotta have them, but they are always (everywhere) so expensive. I usually pull a layer off the top, 2 or 3 times, instead of just replacing them.

Tip; works in the compressor too!
5.0
I bought this for the 800-series gun and, as I suspected, it fits in the 400-series compressor air filter (meaning you don't have to buy a separate pack if you run low volume use).
Go w/ the authentic Hakko as the knock-offs are sometimes too thin.

ceramic filters

these are a necessity to keep suction power strong, regular change out keeps strong suction, I've used this tool for over 5 years and change the filters after regular use and the Hakko pencil tool C1091 runs well
