The Hakko FX650 soldering iron is a slender, lightweight, entry level soldering tool that is an update to the popular DASH soldering iron series, which has been a staple to the DIY electronics market for decades.

The new design uses a highly efficient ceramic heater and new T34 Series Tips that integrate tip and enclosure, simplifying the tip changing process.

The Hakko FX-650 comes with a basic iron stand and a small sample of lead-free solder.

Excellent little iron

This iron is little which makes it easy to handle. Second, it is cheap and has a decent variety of tips available for purchase. The tips are decently priced and work as designed. Third, it heats quick enough to start melting the solder wire; about 2 minutes. Fourth, decently high temperature for a 30W iron. Fifth, the tips are easy to change with the use of a screwdriver.
Finally a caveat; the heat element is ceramic, care must be exercised when changing tips and handling the iron. A fall into a hard surface, can easily break the element. Personal anecdote: I changed the tip for the first time with much excitement and I almost broke the element since I was not paying attention while yanking the tip out of the heating element.
