The Hakko FR-300 desolder tool deserves a place on the bench of anyone facing repeated removal/replacement of electronic components. The weakness of this tool is its heater. The four leads are so stiff that eventually the vibration of the vacuum pump causes one or more of their brazed contacts with the heater to break, rendering the >$50 heater useless. Hakko should use fine multi-stranded "rope" wire in a product subject to its own operating vibration.
