I looked at a number of spools. Many were, well, less than useful, mostly because the bases seemed rather lightweight. Overall, the Hakko has a nice heavy base and works well. It would be nice if the rod holding the solder spool were metal and not plastic, but functionally, it's very good. The only thing I would do differently is purchase holder that accomodates 2 solder spools instead of one so I could have two differet gauges of solder wire on the spool at the same time.

This product is easily worth the money. It is made of solid metal and it perfect so you can hold a piece of solder wire in one hand and a soldering iron in the other. Plus, it's small and compact, so it doesn't take up much desk space.

The soldering reel holder is a great unit it has a nice weight to it will not move around it keeps the solder securely in one place nice and neat and ready to use you can also purchase a stackable one which has two wheels of solder one on the bottom on the top for different gauges of solder.
